So, you know where that fabulous Bed shop is, on the Hough.... Benson for Beds?

Well, a little carer told me, that opening next door (in the old Maplins store) is..... 'Easy Bathrooms' , open to both the public & trade, selling bathrooms & tiles....

... Set to open in about 5 weeks.

Handy, I need to refurb the office bathroom.

Old river island unit is being gutted, looks like someone's taken the downstairs part at least, dunno about the upstairs as there's still the to let board up .

How many pubs/buildings are going to become empty this next few months??

Oh sorry "boom" wrong thread, I don't think anything will be booming anywhere anytime soon mind

If it is that, seems like a lot of effort, as Tumble Weed says it is being gutted, completely, back to bare brick from what I could see.
Yeah, far to much effort for a fly by store, tiger just used what was there and put some boards up, there's major work going on inside, shame the same isn't happening to the co-op.

I wonder if the plan is to split it up into two smaller units?

Hope not, they can't even shift the existing smaller units inside the Guildhall , and wasn't it stated the problem with the Guildhall is the units were too small, hence knocking some of the units inside together ?

Someone's taken on the old Millets unit, well I presume they have unless they've using it for storage. A note's been slapped on the inside asking any deliveries to call a specified number, and looks like some clearing has started inside.

Also for whatever reason, the ceiling seems to be being raised in the old River Island unit.
Have a feeling it could be being turned into a bar, as the work inside is quite evasive, but that's only an assumption.

Would be a decent location for a bar or food establisment

Our town centre needs a lot more leisure facilities to diversify it and provide more reasons for visiting.

Stafford is very poorly served compared to other nearby centres, such as Telford and Tamworth.

I actively avoid the town centre. When I worked there I avoided the high street anyway, especially the constant chuggers in the square, and now I commute it's only really Saturday I could use it. I used to visit the pubs, thats it. If shopping I used to mainly visit places like home bargain and wilko, now I can drive I'd rather use the retail parks.

The only places locally that get my money are bars and restaurants, but there's a finite number of those we can support.
