Mad Cat Woman
Had a package from Amazon delivered earlier. Nothing exciting, some hair dye to cover my greying hair.

I didn't open it straight away, put it on the puffet while I drank my coffee, didn't put the TV on, just sat there relishing the lovely peace & quiet, hot coffee in hand.

Then the scratching started.... From inside the package.... It stopped, then started again.

Friend phoned, I made her listen to the scratching in the package, she could hear it, I could hear it.

Child came home, package still on puffet, unopened, scratching, but intermittent now.

Child offers to open package. Tell her the carer can open it when he gets home.

2 hours later, carer home, explain horrific afternoon with horrible package.

Carer takes package down the garden to open& let the horrible scratchy creature out.

Nothing. Just hair dye.

Had a phone call from a strange number , and for some reason answered it this time rather than my normal leave it then block.

Glad I did as it was sons neighbours checking if he was ok as they hadn't seen him and his car hadn't moved all week . Nice to know someone is looking out for him :), even though he only sees them for the occasional hello on his way out to work.

(I'd given her my number over a year ago, when son was abroad and I'd gone down to check his house was ok . She'd come across and warned me they'd had intruders a few days earlier and offered to put his bin out for him on collection day, instead of me leaving out early and advertising he wasn't there. I'd given her my number incase they saw anything suspicious at his house, but hadn't got hers. )

Was able to reassure her that he was actually taking a weeks holiday off work and staying in to avoid the virus as much as possible, but enjoyed a nice chat and now got her number as well incase of any concerns in the future. :)
Big sense of relief that even though the neighbours keep themselves to themselves, they are actually watching out for him !

I'm really excited but a tad nervous as I've not taught primary before!

How do you get kids to focus when they're babbling about spider man???
Add whatever their current interest is, in this case Spiderman to the lesson. Maths? 2+2 becomes 2 Spidermen plus 2 Spidermen. Or if Spiderman shoots 2 webs then another 2 how many webs did he shoot. Etc.
My advice also brush up on Superhero general knowledge, current kids series etc so you know roughly what they are on about. Pick a favourite character, they are bound to ask you what it is. It's better than keep saying I don't know.
