Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

I think the only time I ever purchased anything from there was when they were doing silly offers like 4 last-season boxes for £8 and stuff like that
I got quite a few things from there , only because they personalised it for free, so will kinda miss it tbh, and their ice cream was half decent.

That's the problem isn't it? you have had no reason to go for months! it's why town is dying, and it's all easier online sadly! (obviously not because of you, but this is probably most people)

Shame they couldn't keep open till christmas time, i'm sure they'd of made money from the likes of yourself (assuming it was some christmas shopping)

Apparently there was a big queue for boots the other day of all places- once again easier done online but it's good people are going into the town into shops, so they don't close aswell!
"a big queue for boots the other day" - probably wellington boots for Sandon Road with all the rain lately.

Noticed this morning that Dressy Dresses has closed. Don’t know when it happened.

When I went to the bank on 2nd Nov it had dresses displayed in the windows, but looked closed at the time I walked past.
Wondered then whether they had just shortened the opening hours, or closed up.

Knocking that and the old bank next door into one might be a possibility, would be stung by two rents though, and the landlords wouldn't agree to it, so probably a non starter, meaning both units left to rot.

I still find it odd that the new owners killed off Thornton's , the business could have survived if they let the workers decorate any chocolate people bought in , which they wanted to do and was being considered.

Also they probably should have focused more on the ice cream side of the business.

I just don't understand why the new owners didn't want their chocolates sold along the Thornton's range, surely it would have been better to have them both sold together.

As it , looks like the remaining stores are probably only running till their leases are up, even the web team looks like they were fired mid March.

I've never understood why landlords would rather have an empty unit asking extortionate rent than reduce the rent and have a chance of letting the unit. I'm a simple person though!

Bit off-topic but is anywhere in town actually owned fully, Not rented? is it not possible to buy buildings outright anymore?

I don't really have a clue about all that stuff, for example I thought casa was owned / not rented

Sorry for my stupidity

I'm just planning on winning the lottery tomorrow, and buying all of stafford town, and making the buildings all into macy's ! might keep gregg's as it is for a bit of variety

Cheers

I have given that a few minutes' thought and all I can come up with that is owned by the trader currently occupying it is Stafford Trade & Home Supplies on Weston Road.

There may be a few others - perhaps.
