I have known a few 'pubmen' who have also been long-term (sometimes lifelong) teetotallers.
There can be many reasons for the abstinent approach.I've always believed that moderation is true temperance. They're taking it to extremes.
Yes, all perfectly good reasons. There can be many reasons for the abstinent approach.
They may not like the stuff.
They may have religious/moral reasons.
They may be alcoholics.
They may be fearful drivers.
They may have medical issues.
Etc.
From the posts you make on here it comes across that going to the pub is all you do. Your answer ties in with my own thoughts though, will I enjoy the pub without alcohol? If I was "unable to drink anymore" I would probably be unable to get to a pub.
I used to quite often go to the pub and not drink any alcohol, especially at lunchtimes and can't say it made much difference to my enjoyment of the setting and company. From the posts you make on here it comes across that going to the pub is all you do. How can anyone drink 18 pints of lager in a day? Even if you ignore the alcohol, just that liquid consumption would mean you were constantly going to the loo and possibly in serious health danger. We have just discharged a man from our care who drank everyday. 18 pints of lager+ was nothing to him.
