Yes it still is, I'm afraid. Give all your money to Freedom Leisure, a truly worthy cause...
Thats what really annoyed me just 'to charity', no specific cause. Having a default option that takes away something you paid for stinks in my opinion, and is terrible UI design unless it's your desired outcome (which is incredibly shitty of you).

Just had an email about Andy Parsons, moved to next September. Again the default option is to give the gatehouse all your money (if you read the email thats who the charity is, the theatre themselves).

That must be very close to being a Trading Standards issue.

Enjoying a drop of red.
It's very dodgy ground, and ensures that no chance will I give them my money as it feels a deliberate ploy to catch people not changing the option.
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind gift them the money? They've had everyone furloughed virtually the entire time since March and have shown absolutely zero customer service. They still owe me money for two shows that have been cancelled. One they haven't contacted me about yet, the other they were supposed to be refunding to my credit card but after 16 days they still haven't got round to doing.

I contrast this with the Lyceum in Crewe who, as always, do their level best to sort you out.

It's never been the same since Gene Vincent and Hurricane Higgins played there

They have a few people in the office until the weekend so if you’ve got any enquiries about refunds then you are quite likely to get a reply this week.

Finally got an email, not fond of the default option being give all your ticket money to an undisclosed charity?
Moved again, default option is still to give away all your money. Best way to ensure I don't give you money is to try and force me to give you money.

Yes they've made big changes.
As a volunteer I've been invited to a drinks evening for staff so that we can look around.
Unfortunately it's this Saturday night and I'm unable to make it.
Guess I'll see it soon enough when I have to go in for my annual fire/evacuation training.

As a front of house volunteer, I’m going there tomorrow night for my annual fire and evacuation training.

I’m so excited for things to be opening up again.

I shall report back!

Yes, all those maskless people crammed into the theatre or scrambling for the bar in the interval.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well of course you’ve opened up a discussion here.
As volunteers we can choose to wear a mask.

As a customer, if you don’t feel comfortable then you have the option of not coming to the theatre.

I appreciate that 50% of people think that lockdown should be delayed.
I’m with the other 50% that think we have to learn to live with coronavirus and get on with our lives.

It’s causing less deaths than normal flu, and don’t get me started on obesity, which is causing more deaths than coronavirus ever will.
But will people take responsibility their own health?

I doubt it.

I agree that things need to open up and we need to learn to live with Covid. But I fear the consequences.

Having said that I'll be at my second fully back to normal event in two weeks at the weekend so...

What’s the point of being double jabbed, if we can’t start having some semblance of a normal life.

I’ll still wear my mask, I’ll still be careful, but I’m not going to shut myself away for ever.

The growth in infections & the high vaccine rate creates the perfect conditions for the virus to mutate. Let’s hope it doesn’t learn how to beat the vaccine.

Not sure how I feel about this, still not exactly a fan of cramming next to loads of people. Wasn't feeling so bad but someone I vaguely know (met at a few gigs) got hospitalised yesterday with it and has lung damage, she wasn't jabbed admittedly but even so I do have a pregnant OH to consider here.
