To make you pay elsewhere?Anyone know why the free car park on victoria street is closed ?
But it can't possibly have happened...Kingsmead has flooded again
If only there was some indication that this was going to happen
You are right the car park flooded regularly with any amount of ample rain. For significant periods of wet weather about 80% of the then council staff car park ( in the week) would be inaccessible, sometimes worse.
It was certainly the case after snow melted which we had plenty of last winter ( which flooded part of Victoria park last). Proof is in the result, cannot remember a year the car park did not flood, bar the last year.
That said all they had to do was level it out, the previous car park was on such a slope the water had nowhere to go except downhill where it met the marsh and would pool, such was the poor design exasperated by equally shoddy maintenance.
That won't happen now especially as there is proper drainage and an overflow system which pushes high water table from the marsh underneath the car park via drainage outflow
I'm starting to think that might just have been council propaganda, designed to fob off the public. But it can't possibly have happened...
Same in the Sainsbury car park whoever owns that (council ?) not even the disabled bays salted but they can increase the price by 10p knowing that it is going to frustrate the customers looking for that extra bit of change but it will of course accept a 20p piece but will not give change.Good to see that the Kingsmead landlords are saving money by not salting the car park while gritting their tenants for hefty rental bills
They’ve also opened an ice rink where the lido was!
Asda, Aldi, Tesco, Almshouses, Mill Street, Eastgate Street, North Walls, Salter Street, Tenterbanks, The Island, Plumbits, Wickes/Currys. Those are just the ones I can remember, I'm sure there are more.Yes I know there is no need to pay to park in Stafford (odds on someone will reply) but never say where that is near to the shops.
I don't park at Sainsbury's as you have to pay by coin. Use contactless in m&s whenever parking there.Same in the Sainsbury car park whoever owns that (council ?) not even the disabled bays salted but they can increase the price by 10p knowing that it is going to frustrate the customers looking for that extra bit of change but it will of course accept a 20p piece but will not give change.
Same in the one below Marks that will not take 5p's, why not keep it easy for all at a single £1 as they must be raking it in at that price.
Yes I know there is no need to pay to park in Stafford (odds on someone will reply) but never say where that is near to the shops.
Corporation street potholes are getting ever bigger so some care is needed going down there (rare for me) if you want to avoid damage, so it odds on that no councillor lives down there.
3rd time trying to use contactless there but not working (for others as well)I don't park at Sainsbury's as you have to pay by coin. Use contactless in m&s whenever parking there.

The Council own the car park at Sainsburys.Same in the Sainsbury car park whoever owns that (council ?) not even the disabled bays salted but they can increase the price by 10p knowing that it is going to frustrate the customers looking for that extra bit of change but it will of course accept a 20p piece but will not give change.

I wouldn't bother coming near Castletown if I was any of you. The gnome that walks round and issues tickets to those without a residents permit, has picked up a bit of speed lately. Been several ticketed and clamped round here. Will avoid street parking outside houses though as the residents need those places in the main.
Yes I agree they should be free as I said in an earlier post with the same line (attract people)The Council own the car park at Sainsburys.
Please don't shout at Sainsbury's staff if... The machine eats your coins, it doesn't print a ticket, the price went up a year ago & you didn't realise, you stayed longer than you paid for, you didn't bother to read the sign & buy a ticket because its sunday/bank holiday/after 6pm, the car park isn't gritted, someone's pranged your car, or if you've received a parking fine... We can do absoloutly nothing, except phone the council to report a non working ticket machine!
If you ask me, all town centre par parks should be free to attract people into a dying town.
Lots of people seem to think all that twaddle is sainsbury's staffs fault....Yes I agree they should be free as I said in an earlier post with the same line (attract people)
What is all that stuff about shouting ?, and the rest of the twaddle ?
Well as you were posting a reply to me about the car park ?, ................. need I explain ?Lots of people seem to think all that twaddle is sainsbury's staffs fault....
No idea what you are on about, but have a happy new year!Well as you were posting a reply to me about the car park ?, ................. need I explain ?
I think you may have misunderstood as I'm fairly certain @littleme was paying in a general way.Well as you were posting a reply to me about the car park ?, ................. need I explain ?
Maybe not, but take it from me that I do not complain to Sainsbury or anyone else about it apart from posting on here.
Thanks for that & got caught out at Asda as I went over the 2 hours in the summer and that was expensive !
Plumbits is only 20mins (?) I think so I avoid there as its easy to run past that.
Will avoid street parking outside houses though as the residents need those places in the main.
