Recycling changes...

Does anyone know of any fabric recycling facilities in Stone / Stafford? I've got a single large old curtain which is well past its prime.
I think most of the large charity shops take fabric. Any old clothes etc that are donated but aren't sellable go into a "rag bag" and then recycled.
I think so anyway.

That comes up as 'page not found' for me....

I have quite a few barely used quilt covers that need a new home.
KH shops are closed right now in Staffordshire due to Tier 4.

The only one I can think of that will be open is in Newport, but that's in another Tier which we aren't allowed to go to unless for work or education purposes.

I know the recycling men want to get around quick in this wet weather . But not happy they have launched a neighbours blue in back , leaving it lying flat over my little fence and plant container inside my garden. Now snapped off a young bush that I have started growing from a seedling over the past year  Could be a bit more considerate of peoples property!

Apologies if this had already been taken about, I'm stuck on my mobile and struggle to go back over previous pages on this thread... What options are there if I want to get rid of my now unfused brown recycling wheelie bin,?? Can I take it to the tip and get it disposed of?

You have to put your brown wheelie bin in another brown wheelie bin, pay £36 and the council will take it away, leaving you with your brown wheelie bin.

It's a carefully thought out policy, as you would expect given the cabinet member in charge of it.

If you just want rid of a wheelie bin, it might be worth asking at some allotments - they make excellent water butts, I find.

Fill it with sand and sell it to the garage on Sandon Road as a flood defence.

I'm sure they'll be others with similar unwanted bins to form a suitable defence :)

The last time someone wheeled a bin into there, it was in an attempt to fill it during one of the fuel shortages...

Looks like it might be getting placed in the garage until the council decide what they're going to do with them...

I believe that the 'plan' is to leave them with you...
This seems to be the current position.

"I don’t want the service, what do I do with my brown bin?
You can keep the brown bin for use around the garden or garage. We are considering ways for unwanted brown bins to be collected but this won’t be possible in the first nine months.
If we remove an unwanted garden waste bin at the resident’s request, and the resident subsequently wants to subscribe there will be a one off delivery charge of £25 in addition to the subscription charge"

Yes I saw that hence the whole "leave it in the garage for the time being".... I'm sure they hope people will forget about them
