Stafford Western Access Route.

Sorry, do you mean the mini roundabout? We're just past that. But right opposite the new one :/

I meant the small one out of Sainsbury's. You will still get traffic from the housing estates your side of the bridge, but I imagine that will be a lot less than goes past now?

I hope so chick, tho I imagine all the diggers etc will still be outside. I've been on nights this last 2 weeks, and if I've had 3 hours sleep a day, I've been lucky. It isn't the works traffic though, revving cars, radios etc.
My friend up the road and myself feel that the new road will become a rat run for the boy racers, I hope not.

I can't imagine being so near it, the pile driving drove me mad from here.

I have my music in my car loud, but I was very aware when sitting at those lights that it's really close to the houses so turned it down.

I can see why you would think it might become a rat run, it's pretty wide for what it is, and the tarmac (at the moment any way) really smooth. Hope not too though.

I don't claim to know what it's like living down there but we've had a taste of demolition off Lichfield road with the knocking down of the old Alstom/GE site and that's bad enough (they've only been doing it 3 months)...

When I came to view, and eventually purchase the house many moons ago, the new road was just a rumour. Nothing was 100%. So I very happily moved in, knowing 20 odd years into the future there was the chance of said new build.
14years later I have be honest and say it has been a bit of a nightmare, the noise has been horrendous, what with the pile driving and all that. At times, the whole house has shook.
Hopefully, when it's all done and dusted, the traffic noise level should go down, if people actually use the road correctly, then they won't have come all the way down Foregate st etc to go to Newport. Unless they have been town and have to use the Doxey Road.

That's the plan isn't it, to split the traffic effectively. Moving the large island further from the frontages than the old Sainsbury's access island was a good move. And it's given people an access road to the fronts of their houses. Perhaps they saw that as 'payment' for the hell that was the pile driving. I appreciate that not everyone there will have benefited from that.

Hope it gets a little quieter for you.

I can't tell if the pavements and the first part of the road is the finished product, but if so, it looks pretty crap.

I thought I uploaded this a few days ago but, obviously not. A few more time blocks added.

I have no idea what's happening tomorrow, but there's signs for 4 way traffic lights gone up. Happy Happy Joy Joy!

The bridge closure is for the 18th. The works i came through yesterday looked like it was cos they were doing new pavement layout near the current Sainsburys car park entrance.
