So, the beef tea, that soldiers/people drank in ww2 was Bovril. I didn't know this.

I was reintroduced to Bovril a few years ago as its one of the few things you can have before a colonoscopy..... The joys of middle age!
Beef Tea could be Bovril or Oxo, I suppose.

The origins of the name 'Bovril' are quite interesting, if you have a literary bent.

Hot oxo drink with jacobs crackers dunked. The food of gods.
I’m another that used to eat whole oxo cubes as a kid.
In the 60’s/70’s my dad used to drink “Bifti” a powdered instant beef tea drink. I don’t know where he got it but I’ve never seen it anywhere & even google doesn’t find it.

I'd forgotten all about Bifti - it never had quite the market penetration of Oxo cubes and Bovril.

There used to be an advertising slogan along the lines of "Who is Neverill? The man who always drinks Bovril!"

Marmite on hot buttered crumpets..... Mmmmmmm
You've got me craving for them now. Just added crumpets to next weeks Tesco order :D

Now this is what you call recycling....

Had to dig out an old b'day card from hubby to give to me on Saturday , as he's just realised he hasn't got me one and doesn't want to risk the shops  He's added 2 more 'X' s to the 63 already there to make it 65 (Couldn't find one with 64 'X's on for last year, maybe I didn't get one off him then either ....)

Good to see that romance is alive and kicking and living on Wildwood.

After 42 years it's come down , from the usual not giving me the card inside the envelope as he's saving the envelope .

Didn't realise when the coaches arrived for The Grot ( Top of The World ) all those years ago how unromantic West Brom lads were

At xmas me and son arranged our presents nicely under the big tree. Hubby dumped his down left inside an Iceland carrier bag and dished them out from that !

At least son takes after me and treats special occassions as special. Sons specially made card has come in the post . Already on the windowsill as hubby didn't follow his instructions to grab and hide it as it came through the letterbox , and stood watching me open it early instead .

Not so much mundane but a bit strange.

I'm attending a funeral on Monday and the preferred clothing colour is Royal purple so I ordered a shirt from a company in Pershore.

The shirt arrived today and is as per the advertising picture but in the bottom of the parcel is a shirt pocket which I presume they expect you to sew on if you want a pocket.

I've never seen this with any other shirt I've purchased before.
