I'd never even heard of Beacon Park Hospital. Didn't realise there was a private hospital there (Or any of the other new places in that area until googling it)

Everything is beautiful

In it's own way

I am surprised they are using Millennium Point as the major vaccination centre for the Midlands. Curzon Street is next door where they are building HS2. That part of the city was never the best to navigate however, I have been a couple of times in the last few months & there are now loads of road closures etc. due to the construction work.

Enjoying a drop of red.
It's a Ramsay one

Ramsay were fined half a million pounds a couple of years ago for shoddy practice

I'm sure they are absolutely marvellous in Stafford though

Whilst I'm not going to defend private health care and Ramsay in particular, all they have to do is fill a syringe and stab somebody in the arm with it. It's not that difficult and surely a far better alternative for the elderly and vulnerable of Stafford than having to travel somehow to central Birmingham.

I'd suggest putting people off going there for their vaccination would be quite a reckless thing to do, at this moment in time.

I'm inclined to agree, but I'd love to know their fee structure.

By the time Boris and his cronies get the vaccinations properly organised HS2 will have been built making Millennium Point the ideal location to vaccinate the travelling public. :)

I don't think we are doing too bad with the vaccinations to be honest. Apparently 200K a day are being done now. Have a look at the hash France are making of it. They only did 500 last week!. Current bureaucracy means someone can only have the vaccine after it has been signed-off by a doctor following a consultation.

I'm still trying to work this out

I know the NEC has a Nightingale Hospital site so you wouldn't want to impede on that, but it also has plenty of practice of one way systems, and the parking capacity, plus chasms of inside space to keep people dry and warm . Not to mention an International railway station.

You do wonder if a cabinet member might have a friend who has a friend who hires out buildings in dead end streets in the centre of large cities

All roads around the NEC are also being diverted/re-configured for HS2.

I'm guessing it's the Pfizer vaccination that is being managed at the large city centre sites because it's harder to supply due to the low temperature requirements

And the Astra one at the local points

So if you had the first Pfizer jab at the Showground, but not the second, you might be off to Brum

But if you've had neither you're more like to be offered the Astra one, and probably locally

But I'm guessing

I just got a letter from a consultant instructing me to attend Barnstaple Hospital for a CT Scan after he examined my blood tests. For three months I've been losing weight rapidly (9stone 2lbs on the scales this morning and feeling fatigued.) Problem is it's on Saturday afternoon and it's 30 miles away, so I'm worried about lockdown enthusiastic cops PNC checking my car as I pass by and then pulling me over to see why I'm that far from home. Coppers tend to hover around the Barnstaple by-pass as they have lots of laybys to lurk in. Perhaps it'll get cancelled.

(I wonder if Steve McQueen would have lent me that Mustang from Bullitt !!) :P
Did you manage to get to your appoinment without getting interrogated en-route @BobClay ? Hope all went well.

I can't imagine there's enough of the Pfizer vaccine left to supply the major hubs for long.

Sixty miles round trip, half of it in fog which was very unpleasant. Saw a couple of cop cars but had no problems. The CT Machine at Barnstaple is situated in a raised portacabin round the back of the hospital, but the whole thing went smoothly and the staff were excellent and very co-operative. They injected a load of dye into me so I'm not sure what colour I am anymore. :shifty:

I was utterly shagged when I got home as the journey back was very foggy with fading light. Now just have to wait for the result from the consultant to see if I'm dancing anywhere near the end game or not.:P
