Crooked Bridge Road and Surrounding area - good to move to?

Hello Stafford Forum

I am currently looking at moving to Stafford. I'm looking at a property on Crooked Bridge Road close to the prison. Does anyone on here know anything about the area in terms of how good it is to live in? In terms of crime, the community, amenities etc. I have been researching but its a good idea to get some opinions from the people who actually live in the town. It seemed like a decent enough area to me.

There are historical issues over subsidence there - which is why there are no houses in Sandyford Street now - but there shouldn't be any significant ongoing problems from that, beyond some people's perceptions.

I have friends that live on that street, they seem happy. It's nice and close to town, takeaways and supermarkets (Lidl & Sainsbury's)

When I lived on Oxford Gardens, probably another 1/2 miles walk I often wished I lived at Crooked Bridge Road.

I always liked Crooked Bridge Road as I knew a few kids who lived down that way (I’m going back a year or two :heyhey: ) and it’s a dead straight road apart from the up and down dips. Liked to come home from town that way crossing Corporation St and up the Big Bank (Prospect Road.) Felt more like open country as it was all allotments back then.

When I was looking to move to Stafford it was a toss up between where I live and Crooked Bridge Road. Always seemed nice.

Got to love a place that describes itself when it was built

How about Tidal Sandon Road?
Or
Forgottobuild a roundabout Beaconside?

Enjoying a drop of red.
Do you mean St George's club, Four Crosses and the Princess Royal?
You used to be able to catch something from those places just by visiting, even before the pandemic. The Four Crosses is an absolute shithole and in the bottom four pubs in Stafford.

I've always liked the Municipal cottages near the crossroads.

I'm not sure I would want to be facing the tall prison walls at the other end of the road but I suppose it depends how often you look out of your front windows.

One thing about being near the prison is there's quite a lot of shouting from the cells at passers by from time to time.

It might also be worth checking the parking arrangements in that area too.

As has been said it is a good location in walking distance of good pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, town centre and railway station.

Nothing wrong with it, it's on a par with the Coach and we all know what a great pint they sell :)

It's between those and Brunswick Terrace as where I'd live if I ever moved into town.
