If the 'security' guys aren't doing the job they're put there for the 'security' company shouldn't be getting paid.
If the store management aren't ensuring a 'safe' operation of the store, they shouldn't be paid, either.

Other stores (Morrisons?) seem to be taking rather more pains to ensure safer shopping for everybody, customers and staff.

Maybe Sainsbury's are hoping for a turnover boost from extra people avoiding the more responsibly operated stores?

Somewhere* in the depths of the Forum, is a post from someone who was accosted by 'security' in Tesco years ago, for the offence of 'wearing a hat'.

It is just a matter of those with the responsibility bothering to do it, or not.

* Edit - Easier to find than I thought it would be.

Just before the current lockdown a man without a mask tried to walk into ASDA Home at Queens without a mask, the person on security stopped him, asked if he had exemption and could prove it, when he said no the security person refused to let him in. Some other stores and supermarkets in the area do seem to be managing things better than Sainsbury.

On two occasions, I have been refused entry on the basis on my footwear.

People at the 'coal face' will generally only enforce things if they know that management has their backs...
This is the basis of the issue.

I have been out for my weekly shop today - all shoppers were masked and all were operating solo missions. I am not in Stafford.

Time to release the cattle prods
I called into Aldi at Rugeley this afternoon (to get a couple Kevin & Katies, they’ve got loads on offer)!for the grandkids. A TWAT come into the queue at checkout fairly close behind me. I gave him the look which he ignored. When he bumped into me trying to put his stuff on the belt I “politely” asked him to move back & respect the 2 metre distance. His response was “it’s ok mate, I haven’t got it””. I dropped my mask, had a good cough in his direction & asked him if he was sure, he soon stepped back. During all this time we were ignored by 3 nearby staff members. FWIW, the bloke was in his late 20’s/ early30’s, they seem to think it doesn’t affec them.
P. S. I had a negative test at Kingston Centre yesterday. Really efficient service & recommend it to everyone. I’ll be going every week from now, they’ve got loads of space.

Two days ago Royal Mail published a list of areas where there have been delivery delays due to its workforce being affected by the Covid pandemic.
The postal service said some areas will see a reduced service due to workers being off sick or self-isolating.
Royal Mail listed 28 areas where post might be late, with 27 in England and one in Northern Ireland.
Of the 27 in England the only one not dozens of miles away from Stafford was “Rugeley (WS15)

Oh @BobClay , how horrid and such a worry for you.
Big hugs to you.
On a positive note, I do believe that it’s one of the more easily treatable ones?
Two people I know that we’re diagnosed with the same thing, one 5 years ago, one even longer than that.
They are both still here, cured, and going strong.
So fingers crossed for you, stay positive and hope for a good outcome.

I will say this. I'm pretty impressed with the NHS right now as I'm getting calls from all over with lots of info. They're insisting they'll keep in close contact and they're going to inject a harmonica into me ... (or is that a hormone !! :P)

Not bad considering what they're going through generally.
