does anybody know who to put a complaint into about the state of our roads round stafford?
third year on the trot and yet another road spring has gone on the old eddmobile, dont really drive like a loon the car is serviced regular and i dont do a lot of miles either.
conclusion, speed ramps with big holes everywhere dont help.
anyone else been having probs?

Staffordshire County Council have a number you can ring - 0800 23 23 23 . You can email them too on clarence@staffordshire.gov.uk.

I contacted them just before chirstmas about something and they replied straight away.

Riding a bike on these dark nights can be quite a challenge when the road isn't always there.

When they put the second run of humps in Corporation Street I saw one set of blokes laying a hump and, ten feet away, another set filling in a hole. The thought occurred to me that they could just have left it as it was!

There's a couple of humps at the town end of Oxford Gardens now. There were no markings on them yesterday when I went over them, but they were still warm. They seemed to be a less aggressive shape than the usual profile.

Well, I presume so, but you never know these days. They might just be big, lumpy patches. There was a beauty outside the Sandonia last year. It had "TEMP" spray-written on it and, during the seven or eight months that it was there, somebody came back twice to renew the "TEMP" as the traffic had worn it off. I was going to spray "PERM?" on it and see if anybody noticed. But I never got round to it. Shame.

Anyone like the state of the traffic light timings on the Riverway/Lichfield road junction?

I live on the Oval, and every time it gets even slightly busy, the roundabout (A449, Asda Road, Lichfield Road, road that goes to the grapes) seems to totally grind to a halt.

Bad timings bad!

Do we every get the chance to vote on things like this?

Does Oxford Gardens even need speed humps? I lived there for 15 years and managed not to get run over, as have my parents for almost 20 years now. If anything they cause more problems because they distract your attention and cause you to slow down (bad for the environment) and then speed up again (even worse for the environment).

Corporation Street is the pinnacle of what is wrong with Staffs CC - the chicanes in the road are no just unneccessary, they're counter productive.

Typical council.... "oh look, we've got some money in the budget, what can we do with it to make peoples lives even worse..."

Should we fill some holes, no lets build some speed ramps where none are needed.

Just try living by one. I get woken up during the day by idiots tooting their horn, locking their brakes up, and general engine reving.

Oxford Gardens?? Are they speed ramps....
Well for half of that road its a single lane anyway due to parked cars. Not sure about speed ramps though, I'm too busy racing between junctions so people don't beep at me.

I feel for you I really do, I couldn't imagine having to put up with that :(

Wasps - feel my wrath!
Tbf never ending corporation street is a right pain in the butt ! especially going over the road humps on a bike ! and agree that it is very poorly planned but what can you do it would probably cost too much to change it so it remains that way !

They're putting a third one in now, just down from the Freeman Street junction.

Strangely enough, I have only ever run two children over and both were in Oxford Gardens, although I did it with a push-bike both times and nobody was really hurt, just "educated" by the event. They were within thirty feet of each other, but about ten years apart.

I'm glad it wasn't you - or did you just blot it out and are you now having terrifying flashbacks?

Ah no I meant hit by a car.

In which case I have a bone to pick with you......

The first one was a girl, she would be 25ish now. I performed a tremendous maneouvre to avoid hitting her brother but I hadn't seen her following him from between two parked cars.

The more recent male victim would be about 16 now.

I hope my evidence clears up the matter.
