The animals were the problem - the dog, the cat and the parrot were OK. And there's three animals now!

I only went into the Kings Arm once, but JD decided she would sit between me and the lodger, eating a beer mat. It certainly was entertaining.

Bob Bell, at the Stafford Arms. A legend.

Whatever happened to Elaine at the Rose & Crown? She was great, but disappeared all of a sudden.

Elaine Huxley went to the Four Crosses, lost loads of money, did a fill in job for Punch at the Bushes then opened a shop I believe in Gaol Road, may still be there.
I don't recall Bob Bell, whwn was that?

that's like a 19th century way of saying "any hole's a goal" lol..

That would be Major Frank Cary at the Crossbow 1965-79. Introduced a small coctail bar between the bar and the lounge. Kiss at your peril, you were not even allowed to put your arm round a girl. Nevertheless, he was a good bloke, managed to have four darts teams in the wednesday night league. Died in a local nursing home a few years ago.

I booked into the White Lion when I was a student; the landlord was a great guy but he told me to leave because the pub was being closed down. He went on to run the Chains which was a small, but friendly pub - full of students but some old geezers as well.

Its a small world.
You have Irish roots on Bernard's mother's side.
Bernard's father Edward married Mary Connor, one of 8 children of Michael and Ellen Connor.
Mary's brother John Connor is my ancestor.
Do you know what happened to Michael Jones after he left the 3 Tuns?
