Thats right, I can picture him now. Must have been his nickname as he was licensed as Frederick James Anthony. Went from the Hop Pole to the Falcon in 1966. Guess who took over from him at the Hop Pole.

yes it must of been a nickname ,and as i remember they were a lovely couple ,we used to go and see them alot at the Falcon .and i can remember the day we moved into the Hop Pole.soo many years ago!!!!!!!!

Thanks, someone told me that it was and may have been near the time it was the Highwayman in 91. I could remember the Highwayman but not the Mutant Turtle. I guess it wasn't for long.

They had a sign done - I remember that. It seemed to be there for a year or two. I would have put it around 90ish myself, although I don't recall the Highwayman....

Bloke here mentions the Mutant Turtle and having lived in Stafford between '86 and '89.

A bit sad this, by chance at the crem I came across the graves of Fred & Elsie Anthony.
Frederick James (Kelly) Anthony d 26 July 1990 aged 81
Elsie Emily Anthony d 9 Oct 1992 aged 74

So it was Kelly not Cal!

Well this is memorable.
Les Pearson reaches his hundredth birthday on 30 August 2009.
Landlord of the Vic Tenterbanks and Stafford Arms some 50-60 years ago.

Betty Jones (my Aunt ) passed away before christmas Aged 92,ex Landlady of The Antelope and The three Tuns ,originally fron Stone Staffs .
