    NEWBIES, Please introduce yourself here!

Not new but returning. I haven't been in here for so long that my profile had my MySpace URL in it! Many moons have passed since and I've popped in as part of a mission. I found someone's glasses up on Beaconside today, a little way down from the lights for the Tech park. Any hints, tips...

    bin collection

Can anyone clarify... Apparently all the bin collections have changed and all households received a leaflet. Well, unfortunately ours was intercepted and 'filed away' by the member of the household least likely to put the bins out. Consequently - I'm not sure what I'm doing (member most likely...

    Anyone got a Minidisc player?

I'll ask the techies in our AV suite at work - see if they have the necessaries, unless a forumer comes to your aid first. Least I can do after being such a plonker.

Mac audio production: MacBook or Mac Pro?

If you want a cheaper option and don't mind having NO peripherals with your purchase, there's the Mac Mini. I thought about one of these, but more for the novelty value than anything else.

    Anyone got a Minidisc player?

Balls - stall that thought. Having had it sitting around gathering dust for some time I could have sworn it had digital output - alas only input. Tis a Sharp 702. http://www.ericwhitney.org/websites/minidiscussion/rev_MD-MS702.html Sorry - getting your hopes up and everything. :gonk:

    Bloomin' weather

Correct me if I'm wrong, are we not in the middle of August? Why am I sitting here in a hoodie and my toastiest socks and still feeling chilly? Am I coming down with a cold or is anyone else feeling a tad nippy of the evening. Disgraceful :(

Mac audio production: MacBook or Mac Pro?

Probably sensible. I think it would be better to get in to this and then upgrade later down the line than find out you really don't get on with the world of Mac after forking out for the big boy. You'll have to come back post purchase and let us know how you get on.

    Anyone got a Minidisc player?

I have one - and I have an optical cable somewhere... in the hell hole of my 'study'. I no longer have access to a soundcard with an optical in tho... slight prob.

Mac audio production: MacBook or Mac Pro?

Hmmm - decisions ;) Depends on your prorities - Just audio editing then the Mac Book will cope. We have one at work that we dig out if anyone is doing a bit of location recording for podcasts or something. Stick to GarageBand for such simple tasks. Any other forms of entertainment that's...
