Tenshon - I wanna play that top Slade Xmas hit in the Sun on Christmas Eve - I will bring a guitar!

My birthday number one - "Paper Lace" - "Billy Don't Be A Hero" - surely the only one that nobody has heard of!
Sofa are you barmy?

An absolute smalzy, sugary classic. Actually saw them perform at an Xmas party in 2005 in Nottingham. And yes they did do "Billy ... " and WE ALL sang along.

Not a lot of lyrics, but I reckon I could sing the whole song off the top, particularly if provided with plenty of Banks's, it was a huge hit at the time! They were one hit wonders though!

Mine was ...

Foot Tapper by The Shadows, think yourself lucky Sofa, because that is dissappointing.

Oh the shame :ohno:

Village People - Y.M.C.A.

I found this website that goes even further...

http://www.everyhit.com

Click on date engine.

On this date:
The Number 1 single was:
Ian Dury & The Blockheads - "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick"

The Number 1 album was:
Various artist compilation (EMI) - "Don't Walk - Boogie"

Born on this date:
1915 - Ewan MacColl ( folk singer-songwriter; deceased )
1938 - Etta James
1949 - John Cooper Clarke

It lists a different number one!?! I've gotta say though i prefer Ian Dury to YMCA :strange: That sounds so wrong!

i think they were an industrial techno band.. german nihilists, if i remember rightly.. some cracking tunes, such as "403 Verboten" and "500 Internal Server Error".. timeless classics, i think we can all agree..

Unfortunately that link just comes up with 'Oops! The server returned a "404 Error Message". This means it couldn't find the page you're looking for.'

So I did a little search and came up with this one.

http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/member/birthdayno1.php

It also lists the No1 in the U.S and Australia.

Oh, mine are all depressing. :(

U.K - Amazing Grace- The Pipes & Drums & Military Band of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
U.S - The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack
Aus - Without You - Nilsso

Skill point for that link, Sir BoD.

Nice - it would be nicer if it were <possible> | <more obvious how> to switch between them with a single click...
And using the default date of Jan 1st 1950 gives "Information is not available". That is just inexcusably bad design.

Anyway:
On the day of my birth, the Number Ones were:
UK = The Special AKA Live! (EP) - The Specials
US = Rock With You - Michael Jackson
Aus = Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - Michael Jackson

On my 18th birthday, they were:
UK = Dr Jones - Aqua
US = Truly Madley Deeply - Savage Garden
Aus = Dr Jones - Aqua

Hmm... Of those six, I only know "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"... Anybody want to expose me to the other 5?

**EDIT**: Fixed the BNF derivative - it's ten years since I last wrote BNF :)

UK = The Special AKA Live! (EP) - The Specials is basically "Too much too Young" live with other live tracks. One of their best recordings IMHO.

UK = Dr Jones - Aqua - You really don't wanna know this one! Aqua sang "Barbie Girl", enough said I reckon!
