I dont mean put a padlock on the lid either......Yesterday our bin went walkies from the back of the shop.

I did hear a bit of noise at 9.20am, just thought it was binmen (due to bad weather, being late)......Went outside at 10 and huge shop bin had dissapeared! (it was there when i arrived at 8.45am.

Had a word with the nice patrol officers (on duty because of the parade in town), They were very nice, going to check cctv, but said maybe its biffa, decided to remove our bin and replace with a new one!

So i checked with biffa.........and they say the "latest" thing going on around the area, is the removal of shop/business bins for scrap!!

This was removed from back of shop, in broad daylight with lots of people mulling around town. So im guessing that they must have had a van or lorry to load the bin onto.

I must say, i cannot belive the lows people sink to.......and how brazen they are when they do!

Mmm sign of the times maybe? I wonder how long it will be before drain covers in the roads start going walkies....?

I nearly went down one on my bike that had been removed on Beaconside earlier this year. Also I saw a dodgy looking man around one on Marsh Street, only for the cover to be missing the next day!

Our work recycle bin was stolen over the weekend, huge thing, bright red. Hospital CCTV saw nought. Amazing.

With the price of scrap going through the roof I wouldn't at all be surprised to see door handles being robbed!!!

nothing surprises me now. wheelie bins have long been the favoured method of removing 'scrap metal' in the absence of a truck in sheffield for years :(

it seems that anything metal that isnt firmly attached to a solid surface is fair game....but the toerags still made off with a few grands worth of lead gutttering and lead from the roof from the cathedral earlier in the year. :(

that said, even when it is is firmly secured, thwey will still have i away :(

My neighbour pointed out that brown bins have been "removed" from the Tithe Barn/John Street/Cambridge Street area possibly last week. He phoned the council and they didn't know anything about it, so he's ordered a new one.

I, for one, have not been pottering about in the garden much this Winter, so mine did not go walkies. Only the ones left out for collection seem to have disappeared.
