Christmas

Due to unforseen circumstances, I may end up totally on my own over Christmas - no kids or owt. As I've never been in this position before I'm not sure where's open (if anywhere) over Christmas, including Christmas day. Does anyone know if there's anywhere open/anything going on so I dont end up a complete sad case just hammering a bottle and passing out all on my tod?

:help:

Generally most old style pubs open Christmas day, also many Indian restaurants (possibly Chinese too?). Apart from that I dunno I'm afraid, not ventured out on the 25th for a long time. Hope the unforseen circumstances aren't particularly bad one.

There are various other possibilities, if you look around, should you wish to occupy the day fruitfully. Things like Christmas Day lunch volunteers, etc..

The Southern Comfort won't go off..
Reminds me of my Aunt and Uncle who were Jewish. They would work on Xmas day and Boxing day.

My neighbour who is a consultant at Stafford hospital will be in on Xmas day. He has always worked on xmas day.

Hope you find somewhere. Have a very good xmas eve sleep to 4 ish watch a bit of telly and then its boxing day or is it, Is that now Monday?

I know sometimes this place can seem a little cliquéy, a little obtuse, a little left-wing, a little right-wing, a little offensive, a little politically-correct - continue the list as you see fit. But I firmly believe that Stafford Forum is as fair an Internet forum as you can get, and for such a small community we have some of the kindest and most helpful Forumites that grace The Internet. :)

I know I get a bit soppy when things like this happen, but you all have to understand that I (and others) started this place because of our love for Stafford, and seeing responses like this really warm my Christmas Cockles. :)

Em K, I hope you have a lovely Christmas, whatever you end up doing. And I hope you let The Forum know how you get on!

Well Guys, I've had a fair few PM's over this, offers of lifts if needed and even people who are very busy themselves over Christmas have just dropped me a note to wish me well.

I'm spending Xmas morning with my kids and I've had a lovely offer off a couple of friends to spend the rest of xmas day/night at theirs - it's a bit of a trek but it'd definitely be worth it! The rest of Xmas shouldnt be too bad once the actual day is over with but i'd just like to mention once more how chuffed I am that so many people have been as utterly lovely as they have. Skill points all round lol! :xmas:

LOL probably not no! If it wasn't for the fact i'm used to spending it with the kids I wouldn't even blink at the idea of being on my own - or the fact things got messed up a bit last minute so it was hard to make alternative plans. You never know the day may come where i'm ITCHING to have the day to myself!

No, not at all. My GF has her grown up kids round at hers and I usualy go to my sister's in Rugeley. Hoping weather will close in and make the journey impossible.
I'm not a "bah humbug" type, just can't do with being nice to my eldest drama queen niece with her freeloading husband and my youngest niece's bloody kids.

thank god its not just me....i feel much less guilty now!

i have to admit i struggle with christmas, i dont think ive enjoyed it since i was a child and the thought of shutting out the rest of the world and just having a day to myself when everybody else is too wrapped up in their own stuff to bother me just sounds like bliss.

the grinch arrives in december and usually takes hold until i get home to my own bed....normal service will resume next week.
