There is a partial solar eclipse heading our way on the 4th January.

i don't think you can solely blame the council - Royal Mail's backlog mountain of mail was also obscuring my view!shoes said:Pesky council didn't grit the clouds so I missed it also

i missed it in sheffield, but the moon was an amazing orange colour on the way home.

aaahhhh, thats what it looked like but a little paler!
id got in my head that it would be completely dark....but is that just a solar eclipse?

Yes, during a solar eclipse the moon is between the Sun and Earth so is completely dark.
During a lunar eclipse the Earth is between the Sun and the moon so sunlight is refracted through the Earth's atmosphere and all but the red parts of the spectrum are filtered out - hence the orange colour.
Pretty isn't it.
