Pesky council didn't grit the clouds so I missed it also :(
i don't think you can solely blame the council - Royal Mail's backlog mountain of mail was also obscuring my view!

Oh geeze, and i pay my council tax too!! Might have to chain myself to the council buildings in absolute protest and hope they sort it out for the next eclipse lol.

the moon was an amazing orange colour on the way home.
You probably did see it then, during an eclipse the moon looks like this

id got in my head that it would be completely dark....but is that just a solar eclipse?

Yes, during a solar eclipse the moon is between the Sun and Earth so is completely dark.

During a lunar eclipse the Earth is between the Sun and the moon so sunlight is refracted through the Earth's atmosphere and all but the red parts of the spectrum are filtered out - hence the orange colour.

Pretty isn't it. :)

Good God! - i forgot to warn people not to look directly at the Sun without protecting their eyes!

Luckily cloud is most effective at preventing such calamities. :crossarms:

Beautiful sunrise this morning down Rugby way, most dramatic I've seen in a long time.

Partial lunar eclipse tomorrow, but probably not worth twisting thine knickers about.

Will rise in partial eclipse a bit before 4pm looking a bit like this,

taking an hour or so to look like it normally do.
