The Tavern Stafford Greengate Street

I usually go the the nelson, the yard, litten tree, casa. However because the yard was closed i decided to visit the tavern. I was always told never to go in this place by friends. However i went in last Saturday and was pleasantly suprised. It was the best night out ive had in ages, the drinks were reasonable, the music was great, and just the whole atmosphere of the place was great. every one was smiling having a great time. I felt more safe in there than the nelson, couldnt believe how wrong my friends were.

Welcome, jh. I haven't been in there since it was Dougal's.

You'll often get more truth from your enemies than from your friends..

i just asked andreas "where the hell is the tavern??" after reading this, and after he described it as "on the corner, by the old post office," i said "oh, dougal's?" lol..

i have to say, a group of us walked past there on saturday night after having a meal in karma and then heading into town, and it was.. well.. quite a sad sight.. music blaring out, lights on the dancefloor, all the potential - but no-one in there save a group of about 4 sitting at a table near the window, looking hopeful..

tbf this was early in the evening i suppose.. 20:00 or so..

whatev's - welcome to the forum, jadehulme

How standards have fallen. Any wet glasses then?
My last memory of the Bath Hotel ( dougals to the youngsters )
was of a wild west type saloon ejection, chin first onto footpath outside. No security in them days just muscle from behind the bar

I think Brenda was her name

Bath Hotel, Pitchers, Dougal's, Tavern - are there any other incarnations? I feel that there is another one.

When did it cease to be the Bath? I have vague recollections of such a place..

I must say, one of the biggest things keeping me out of the Tavern is the sheer number of tossers standing outside the front door for a fag on a Saturday night.

Me too!, but not chin first, on my tiptoes, gonads being crushed, and head butted just outside the door. Not sure if it was Brenda though?

I walked past last Saturday around 8pm and asked "how long has that place been closed down?" :/
