Anyone up for a kiddie cage fight?

Because it turns out its legal?!?!?!?!

"Getting more young people doing sport is great but I do ask myself whether it really does have to be in a cage," Mr Hunt told the BBC.
I am utterly shocked at this, surely it can't be legal to get 2 eight year old kids, put them in a cage without any protective gear, and get them to kick crap out of each other?

I particularly enjoyed Jeremy Hunt's interview on the subject this morning. Almost as much as I enjoyed his appearance on the Today programme earlier this year. I know you will have heard that one many times before but let's brighten-up a dull Thursday morning anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS5mVoqJpUk

my first reaction when i saw this topic was wtf, my second was hang on before i went in to the forces i took several forms of martial arts to be at my best. Yes this is harsh putting kids through it, but there is different ways to look at this, I am wanting my daughter to take up martial arts so she can look after herself and she is 8, But only now have I thought of this is an option. Thai boxing to me is a great form of killing nerve endings in your shin and elbows although i still look at the fact that thai boxing is a form she could well pick but only if i point it out. Yet only now do i feel at 8 she can learn a form of martial arts. Which makes me wonder why someone would put an 8 year old in a cage, Had they been say 12 then i would kind of understand but only if they have had form for a few years and the childs wants to take up form so to speak. Cage fighting can be seen in many ways, went i learnt that style of fighting i went through milling - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgoP37DVNSs at the age i had a go i felt was too young but looking back had i gone through the preps early on i would of breezed it. But then again not all children are going to stand up for there country etc

if my son said to me can i do sports at 4 i would let him learn martial arts, at his age, because he has asked, secondly i would make sure we both did our best, to show he can do everything he can, if my daughter did the same, i would do the same but she is older, i feel kids should be able to stand up for themselves

I also think that children should be able to stand up for themselves but I really do not think that cage fighting is the way to go about it. All children who want to be active whether playing a sport or taking up martial arts should be encouraged and I am all for that but not fighting each other in a cage.

I would like to see that father's reaction if the council said to him "I'm afraid we've had to ban children cage fighting at that particular venue. But have no fear - the local Judo group have set aside a corner of the council Sports Hall that you can use. They meet at 9:30 every Saturday morning."

I couldn't see the father taking them up on the offer.

At the age these children are, cage fighting, like dog fighting, is all about the audience and nothing about the participants.

Cock fighting, dog fighting what now child fighting. I say it again some people should not be allowed to have children

That sort of thing didn't happen in private clubs when I lived up in Preston, it happened in school. And the egging-on was usually done by the sadist PE/maths teacher (why was that such a common combination in the 80s? all 4 PE teachers also tormented us in maths).

I know exactly where that club is, by the way. For many years I lived quite close to it.

If you google-map the place... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=4+Chatburn+Road,+Ribbleton,+Preston+PR2+6BJ,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&sll=53.770529,-2.66839&sspn=0.036778,0.059223&vpsrc=0&t=h&z=16
then go slightly North East a bit, our place was the third block of flats on the south side of Grange Avenue (if you streetview it, see Elston Lodge with the hi-top VW camper outside).

Luckily we finally got rid of that flat back in April. I am, however, still awaiting my small share of the money :(

+1

Reminds me of the other day when I went to B&Q. This old bloke came up to me and asked if I wanted decking.
Luckily, I managed to give him a right hook before he got his first punch away.

I'm sorry but the organisation who had the two 8 year olds cage fighting are an absolute disgrace to Britain. Completely immoral.

The kid in black shorts clearly won.

I want my bet refunded
