Feedback time.

Booking in on phone = was very easy and the guy was friendly and helpful.

Dropping car off = lady was very helpful, friendly and polite. Very efficient too.

MOT = Car passed with no work at all needed, just one advisory which they told me about but no pressure to do anything about it since it wasn't too important (and I will fix it myself anyway). So overall this was good, i'm always worried with cheap MOT's that they will make something up to make back the cash (usually claiming light bulbs need replacing etc.... so I checked them all the morning of the test) but they obviously didn't try anything on, credit to them :)

Collection = same lady was again friendly and chatty without being false and whilst still being efficient.

All in all, I will definately be back for future MOT's Randlesuk - at least whilst they are that price, not sure if you plan to keep them at that rate though?

Not sure I would use you for repairs as I always assume main dealers are expensive so I go to somewhere like FMS who seem good value.

Keep up the good work though Randles, have a skill from me too :)
Hi gk141054,

Its great to hear you've had a positive experience with us and thank you for giving us a go. Its fantastic that you have shared your experience thank you very much for taking the time to do this so others can see how we operate as a business.

(More for people that aren't aware of us....)
As a franchised dealer we have very strict regulations which we must follow therefore we only do work which is necessary to ensure the safety of your car. This is our duty of care. We will then offer any advice based on our findings that is non essential work and this is up to you what you would like to do.

We have no plans to change our MOT pricing at this stage so £29.99 it is for the foreseeable future.

In regards to repair work, I suggest that the best way to find the best deal is to get quotes. Main dealers are not always the most expensive but its always worth shopping around.

Thanks again gk141054 - we look forward to seeing you in the near future :)

p.s. - I will pass Sarah the lovely comments. She will be delighted.

Hi Gemma, me again.

Can you confirm - is it normal practice for your guys to remove the wheels as part of an MOT? I would assume it is, but want to make sure....

Thanks

Helloooo,

I have just checked this with our service team and this is not common practice. The wheels wouldn't have been removed during the MOT as it is not part of MOT requirements.

Any reason why?

Hi Gemma,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I had a flat tyre this morning so went to pump it back up (think its a slow puncture) and noticed that the covers that cover the nuts on the alloy wheels have not been put back on properly... you have to line them up or (as is the case) try and force them on and they don't fit right, leaving them liable to fall off or break the retaining catches...

Based on your response above (and why I asked in the first place, rather than wrongly acuse anyone) I can only assume it was Stafford Tyres who replaced the tyres the day before you guys MOT'd it.... Looks like they also damaged the wheel when prising the cover off in the first place :(

Think it will be the last time I use Stafford Tyres if it was them.... :(

Thanks for clarifying :)

I had a similar experience earlier this year with National Tyres on Greyfriars where the wheel nut covers were not put back on (they left them in the guttering at the bottom of my windscreen). I didn't notice them as the dashboard hid them, so of course, they must have flown off when I went around the first corner! On that day, there were a few blokes there that looked as if they were on work experience, so maybe that's why!?!

Anyway, I called them up and they gladly reimbursed me the cost of some new covers ordered from Audi Stafford.

Thanks for the info Stafford Beast... I suppose its an unfortunate consequence of people wanting the cheapest deal possible combined with employing young enthusiastic lads who are perhaps not the most careful people in the world.... understandable when they have to be lugging big wheels and tyres I suppose....

To be honest I would have rather they didn't put the caps back on and just left them in the car for me to put back on myself carefully.... in future I think i'll take them off myself before taking it in and replace them myself later.

Its a shame because lots of people on here have rated Stafford Tyres, but since I have no proof it was their fault and since I doubt they would do anything about it (except maybe offer to re-fit them properly) then I feel there is no point me even bothering to tell them what happened. I'll just not use them in future and not recommend them to others.

Car passed thankfully. Despite it only being five years old you always have that feeling of dread before an MOT.

Hi Gemma,

Sorry to add to this thread, but keeps it all in one place I suppose.

Our Fiesta needs its air conditioning re-gassing and associated seals etc I would assume. You guys sometimes have special offers on air-conditioning services, have you got anythign on at the moment?

On the subject of m.o.t's I am very sceptical about garages and they're axes to gring when it comes to m.o.t's and ripping you off etc. so I took it to county fleet care up by the police station, they are a non-profit making organisation so I assumed they wouldn't fail it for anything that wasn't completely necessary... However they did fail it, so I got the work done else where and the mechanic I used said they shouldn't have failed it and from his experience in the past they failed cars on things that didn't need to be failed and were too strict.

My sceptisism screwed me over there... Should have used rankles/fms!

Hi guys

As far as I'm aware the guys at Astonfield motors only do MoT's not repairs, so they have nothing to gain by ripping you off with unnecessary work. We take care of a lot of customers who bring MoT repairs in from them. we're always happy to help with quotes if people are shopping around.

I've heard County Fleet are pretty strict - they also do the compulsory Annual Taxi tests and I know they can be a nightmare!

Hi gk141054,

no worries, we have an offer for air con at the moment. £49.99 which covers regassing, inserting a dye to ensure no other issues and then retest if required. This price does not include new seals if required. I would suggest for full details to contact Sarah aty Randles Peugeot on 01785 245518 she is superb and will advice you.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks
Gemma

I use FMS for my MOT, they may not be the cheapest but they were friendly, efficient, no unnecessary work on any of the family cars and they will continue to get our service in years to come.

You've hit the nail on the head there. Although paying more doesn't always mean better service it can be worth paying a fair price to deal with people you can trust. Don't often hear bad things about work from the guys at FMS.
