Christmas Tree in Stafford gone?

I'm a long-term reader but a first time poster.
Does anyone know anything about the Christmas tree outside the art gallery? I just read on Facebook that it has been removed and shredded?

There was a massive split in the trunk so it was removed for safety reasons.

Actually i think they are moving it - as there isnt one on gaol island this year, they are gonna move it between sites - one week in the square and one week at the gaol
