Just been browsing courses - i need to do something as im bored. But the college seems to offer a lot of what i would call "male" courses. warehousing, plumbing, electrical etc. The computer ones are either beginner or what ive already done! (did find one but at 2k i think i will leave that lol)
As i work i only have fridays or evenings.

Ive looked at the leisure courses but they are all - learn how to cook, learn to use a pc or bellydance! not exactly what im looking for lol

Im so bored!

Do you work on Saturdays? There are some one-day workshops on a Saturday each term - I thought that the stained glass one sounded interesting although I haven't got round to doing anything about it yet!

Sorta same here, but i'm a male but not really interested in those at all...

To be honest, i don't really have a clue what i'd like to do!

Noo i dont work saturdays lol (been there, done that!) - The only thing i found of interest was an art class for 11-16 yr olds, which would suit my daughter (no point in us both being bored lol).

If you let me know what you are interested in, I can find out what is being run for you?

The kids cookery courses are great, they bring you home food! Unfortunately all are now filled for this term :(

I enquired a few yeras ago about learning latin but they didnt do a course
Well worth it - almost the only worthwhile thing that I did at school after the age of eleven..

There are teach yourself things available, I'm sure.

Radio Finland, strangely, broadcasts the news in Latin - http://yle.fi/radio1/tiede/nuntii_latini/

Have a listen - http://areena.yle.fi/player/index.php?clip=1326098068833&language=fi

Am going to the open evening to see what is on offer, Jan' 15-17. Seriously want to investigate the 'Teaching Assistan Course'. I had thought about Teaching before I got my degree, but lack of 'o' Level Maths, meant that wasn't an option. I am likely to be retired on ill health from operational firefighting late in March, nice birthday pressie! but will be able to look for other jobs. Lets face it, you don't want the life of the public, or colleagues, depending on someone, where there is any doubt about their mental or physical capability, under pressure. Sh*t happens, then you die, except I didn't! ;) Tis up to me to carry my sorry carcass around and look for work! Wish me luck!

Aww it will all come good - things happen for reasons - you just got to find out what they are. and im sure you will when you start looking at other things
I worked for some proper nasty people in the past - very hurtful - but looking back i now know why, i wouldnt be doing what im doing now if i hadnt gone through it :)

Might be worth having a chat with the college anyway. Quite a few of the course fees have been waved this year due to the recession. I know any adult can take an A-Level course for free, I know, I'm doing one now :D

Really?

Do you have to be in receipt of benefits for this or something?

Any idea on what other courses might be doing this?

No, wasn't on any benefits or anything. I don't know what other courses have been waved, I'm guessing most of General Education courses though, like GCSE's and A-levels. But I went along in September expecting to pay £300 for the course, but was told all fees had been waved this year - but of course next September might be different.

I'd imagine the pre uni courses - like foundation year and maybe some specialist one's you'd have to pay for but maybe worth an enquiry?

I'm sure they still get the money from the Government.

I have literally just received an email asking me to cancel the Greek for Absolute Beginners course on Tuesday evenings, I assume due to lack of interest but I can check if required?

I'm going to check on this and get back to you, I was under the impression that less courses would be receiving waivers but I could easily be wrong.
