Music (harmonica, guitar and trombone, in roughly that order), cooking, photography, climbing.

I did the three peaks challenge, back in my youth. TBH, anyone moderately fit should be able to do it during the summer, as all the mountains are extremely well trodden easy routes, and there's plenty of recovery time while the driving gets done. It's not hitting traffic in-between that becomes the issue.

A year later we attempted the Welsh 3000s. No driving on that one just 15 mountains one after another. I got to 9 or 10 I think, before twisting my ankle.

I'm pretty sure I could do the three peaks - traffic permitting. But I'd never even consider the welsh 3000s - because of Crib goch! Scary stuff. Love my climbing, don't mind a scramble but exceedingly narrow paths with sheer drops to the side are definitely out!

Any favourite mountains?
This year we are doing Scafell Pike and Snowdon. I'd love to do the Three peaks challenge but not sure I'm fit enough - we'll see.
do you like climbing?
I loved walking up Snowdon - Miners track up for maximum gnarl*, Pyg track down (have good boots).

My Attorney was forced to go via Crib Goch under far from ideal conditions, and was scared shitless - more fool him.

*Miners requires a good (/bad) deal of scrambling up scree - i loved it, but can understand people not loving it - if you know what i mean.

Are there any circumstances under which climbing Crib is an ideal condition? I'm pretty sure we are doing Miners up Pyg down - could be the other way round for all I know! I love a good scramble :D

I'd highly recommend Helvellyn - the views from the top of Striding edge are amazing - I really wish I had been brave enough to go across but it looks too scary - youtube it and you will see what I mean!
Camino del Rey - your cold sweat will, at least, be warmer..
I've seen that vid before - scary stuff.

Do you mean mountaineering when you say 'climbing'? Because I can't quite get my head round someone not wanting to walk Crib Goch, but being willing to hang off a cliff...

Not sure what route we are taking up snowdon yet - leave all that to my partner as he's been up three times. Thanks for the tip for munchies though - will check it out.
When we went to the Lake district last year we broke our legs in on the first day on Lattrig - the views of Skiddaw from up there are really good - I always think its a really menacing looking mountain though.
We're off to Ullswater next month and think we'll be doing Helvellyn, I quite want to have a go at Striding Edge but I guess if there's snow on top it's a no-goer.

My hobbies include: spending too much time going to football matches, playing golf, camping, walking, rock climbing (although not done much recently and am very much a novice) and cycling, I've recently purchased a road bike and we've been going out a lot with the weather being fair. It's also being rode in the front room on a turbo trainer in the week!

Military History, Wargames (haven't played for years, though), watching football and playing the odd game of 5-a-side, American Football, Photography, especially photographing American Football (but will try other sports).

I walked up Cader Idris several years ago early in June, something I'd not done since a 6th Form Geology field trip. I drove to Towyn on a Friday afternoon and camped on the south side of Cader looking forward to setting off the next morning. I awoke to row after row of white vans in the campsite - I'd only gone and picked the day of the Welsh 3 Peaks. These guys had gone up Snowdon already before taking on Cader and then moving on to Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons. Still, it made the ascent and descent a lot easier; no chance of getting lost even in the mist (though I did try).

I mean mountain climbing - not mountaineering

Let us know if you do it - would be interested to find out what it's like - wish I was brave enough. I'd be fine if I was up there on my own, its just the thought of having to pass someone!
