The best place to advertise something like this is at Stafford College, in particular the Performing Arts department which is easily located opposite the town park (where the new childrens play area is) the students there would respond to this positively

Love flash mobs. Hillarious. Planking in the station could be funny (only lobby though! could be quite dangerous!) I hate phones with a passion. Do not do talking on the phone to anyone but my mum, dad and fella. Perhaps my brother if I'm feeling brave. Lol. Pom poms would be funny. Or being a statue holding a helium baloon? Wearing a tin foil hat and looking up at the sky. Freezing point up at the sky? Wearing a paper hat and writing PIRATE on it? (I can show you if you dunno how to fold a hat.. somehow make a YT vid lol)

If we do one, can we at least look like we're enjoying it? They're all like :| for most of it. Pretty lifeless. Reminds me of doing silly dances at Telford MCM Expo though :B

Flash mobs are ment to be intriguing, that was so boring. They look pretty lifeless considering they're dancing to a song that's meant to be full of it.

Couldn't agree more - it looks like each and every one of them were forced into it. If you read the comments on youtube it says something like "we had so much fun doing this"...... Did you? I mean, REALLY???

Oh and I like the point at the sky idea. The good thing with that is that people are like sheep, they're followers. If 30 of us all did it, the chances are another 30 would copy even though they don't exactly know what they are pointing at ;)

i went town earlier and popped into wilkos and the guy wearing the leather jacket in the b&q flash mob walked past me....i actually burst out in laugher and nearly choked on gum. made my day :)
its probs one of the worst flash mobs ever...although the b&q guy in the back made me smile, he was proper going for it!

A great example there. I think the B&Q flash mob fail to understand the process. Someone randomly starts the act, then people who look like they're amazed at what they are seeing suddenly become part of it until there is a huge mob. At the end they disperse almost as if it didn't happen (for the best effect).

In the B&Q example that gdavies posted, they all arranged themselves into position in a way that it was evidentally planned and you could see what was about to start. Also, no where near enough people involved!

I just gave the B&Q one as a staffords example big companies like that do tend to get alot of people to join in yet stafford's was lifeless and boring, yet other B&Q stores managed to do it well think stockport did pretty well

I adore the idea of this - but if being able to dance is a required skill then that's me out right away ahaa!

Well, 9 people voted to say they would defo be up for it, but not one has bothered to register their interest at the temporary site I put up - so I think this is an idea to be forgotten. It could have been a laugh, but these things take dozens of participants so I'm afraid it's a no-go. :(

I registered, how many registered in all WMR? What a shame though, that could have been awesome :(

Hmmm, how strange... I've just manually checked the form entries and 8 people have registered yet it hasn't notified me by email like it should do.
Anyway, maybe it's still growing slowly enough to one day be worth a giggle.... I'll leave it open for registrations so mention it to your friends if you think anyone would be interested. ;)

I would have loved to join in as I think it's a great idea (especially the idea of maybe enjoying a pint together afterwards ;) ).

But reading the rules about not giggling and having to freeze and keep a straight face no matter how many times you get poked etc ................. think that counts me out of any statue ones ! :D

One question about these flash-mobs - If you aren't allowed to meet up before the event, how do you do the ones with the dancing, with everyone doing the same dance moves?
