No one's mentioned the Innis and Gunn range. The darker ones are heaven, lighter one's are OK cold on a sunny day. I'm not saying they beat a good draught beer but for those of us forced to drink at home, work, in a ditch or shed it's about as good as it gets.

I'm currently enjoying a 'tesco finest' (actually made by the awesome Brew Dog) American Double IPA. Nicely hoppy, but at 9.2% I probably wouldn't want a second one.

Brew Dog beers are awesome.. the Punk IPA is a belter and 5AM Saint too.. I was gutted to find out that I was only round the corner from their Camden pub when I was in London last but had no idea it was there

My mate once did a study of ergonomics of different ale glasses for a design paper he had to write. One of the criteria studied was the levels of grip offered relative to sobriety. Needless to say this involved several hours at the pub, much like the Guiness experiments. Any excuse.

Just a quick 'heads up'. The Bell at Eccleshall have a beer & cider festival on from Tomorrow 21st to Sunday 24th as part of the Eccleshall festival week.
They are having a breakfast bar in the street outside on Saturday morning to co-incide with the street and farmer's markets and a hog roast in the evening.

I want a beer! I have however gotten myself into 'the family way' and will have to wait another few months, I am looking forward to Christmas, in particular the Manchester and Birmingham Christmas markets for some lovely German stuff!

A few years back I visited 'Quarks Bar', formally of Star Trek fame, now residing in Las Vegas. I tired Klingon blood ale, it tasted mostly of weak American beer with red food dye in it.
Mostly this week I have been switching between Theakstons Old Peculiar and the trusted Newcastle Brown Ale. I shall carry out more tests and try to decide by the end of the week which is best. I may have to resort to holding a bottle in each hand and and tasting each one in turn. It's a tough job but I'm willing to take it on. Sometimes I impress myself at my commitment to threads on Stafford Forum.
