Is there a helicopter hovering in the Stafford area I have heard it for the past hour but can't see anything.

Anyone know?

Lynx/Puma is not an obvious distinction, though the Gazelle is still clearly identifiable, even if ones hears so few of them these days..

particularly so when inside one airborne
It hardly seems necessary to identify an aircraft if you're inside it.

Unless you have been blindfolded.
Leonard Cheshire blindfolded himself and spent many 'happy' hours familiarising himself with the cockpit layout.

Of course, if one is being 'rendered' somewhere, one if probably going to be (un)fairly restrained at the time..

It might still be prudent to know how far the aircraft might feasibly go and how many other occupants it might have.

I fear we may have strayed from 'the point' a bit - it was definitely hovering and was to the north of here, beyond that i have nothing more enlightening to add.

When living over the boarder in Salop we were often subject to helicpoters buzzing around. I think RAF Shawbury had something to do with it.

There's been quite a lot of helicopter activity over Wildwood this last week or so, especially the Chinooks which have circling over in pairs. My patio windows have been rattling each time they pass.

Whilst walking over Cannock Chase yesterday morning about 11.30-ish we could hear some helicopters close by then. They weren't just passing as they were there for ages . Heard on the news afterwards that there had been a fatal accident on Pye green Road over the chase around that time. The bloke from Rugeley was unfortunately dead and they had to cut the female passenger out .(That would explain the fire engine which was racing up the Cannock Road past us earlier)

Hovering over the RAF as I type, nothing like having the windows open on a balmy night and being serenaded by a Chinook!
