It's good to see the change in thinking in the Labour Party (if it's genuine) where we can have a debate about immigration without being called everything under the sun.
It's just a shame that his proposals are just tinkering and not anything more substantial!
It was a tongue in cheek comment that was posted to promote discussion and yes I probably do overestimate my own importance!
I think that the BNP is obsessed with Islam and will jump on any band wagon which shows it in a bad light, there are paedophile's from all ethnic groups but even Baroness Warzi (co-chairman of the Conservatives and a Muslim herself and Trevor Phillips (the head of the Equalities Commission) has stated that there is a cultural element to these crimes.
There are problems with radical Islam but I don't believe that the majority of muslims are radical.
As for repatriation it depends what you mean, there is already a scheme to help repatriate those who want to return to their counrtry of origin to do so and that seems a good idea but anyone who is here legally should have a right to stay here if they want.
What I would advocate is that the UK leave the EU which would then mean that all of the migrant workers from Eastern Europe would have to return home and a crack down on all those who are here illegally.

You know my britishness is never threatened, I work in a culturally diverse area, high concentrations of Poles, Pakistanis, Bangladeshi's and Indians. One of my best friends is a strict muslim and you know, my britishness is not threatened in the slightest. I asked my friend sometime when the BNP scum and EDL thugs were in the headlines for their neo nazi rhetoric, if he would like to be "repatriated" and he said yes, price of fuel what it is a tank of petrol and he would happy to go home to Smethwick.
I have just had an interesting conversation on twitter with the BNP, they also chose not to answer the question on picketing the trials of white paedophiles and rapists, I guess the crime only becomes more heinous when committed by a man who isnt white.

As Hetairoi has given a considered response to your question, can I ask you if you think there needs to some limit on net immigration into the UK and does the projection of a population of 70 million in 10 years give concern for our public services and infrastructure?
I don't agree with you that we need to be culturally diverse, can you please explain why you think it is necessary?

If it is whether the colour of your skin or your religion makes your crime worse then no it makes no difference at all.

I took it to mean he might have been comparing the thread starter with the character of Alf Garnet, rather than trying to make out that Warren Mitchell is a bigot.
I suppose what you mean by cultural diversity. I'm all for respecting peoples cultures and traditions and sharing their experiences(and cuisine!) but not if it means a form of apatherid and ghettoisation that keeps people apart. England is the most crowded country in Europe( except from Malta) and if we are going to rub against each other we need common goals and respect for each other to gel us togeather
