Text Received re Audi and possible child approached

Tillington Primary sent a text about stranger danger today.

A bald headed man in a dark Audi approached a local girl. Please be VIGILANT.

(Above is exact text received - I've not heard anything else, or what truth there is) but thought I would send it on to see if anyone else has heard anything.

It may just be a rumour - but schools don't usually send messages on like this.

The rumours I've heard are that he approached 2 young girls on Holmcroft Road and attempted to get them into his car. Heard through family via Facebook etc. so don't know how much truth in it, but the story with the Audi and bald head all seem to be saying the same thing

Thats weird as we've had a letter sent out about a bloke in a 4x4 yelling at a lad to get in his car last week. The lad ignored him and the bloke drove off nothing more said or done.

The local Primary schools have sent a letter out today, this is what John Wheeldon's said. "We have been advised by another primary school in the locality that there was an incident yesterday involving the attempted abduction of one of it's pupils whilst walking home from school last night".

And goes on to remind everyone to be vigilant.

I wonder if it's the same person/group operating in Stafford and Wolverhampton. Or a sick coincidence.

The text is real and from Tillington Manor. It was sent yesterday morning (my daughter goes there) and it stated that the man tried to get them in the car on Clare Rd, which is off First Avenue (first turning off Holmcroft Rd if coming from Stone Rd) Sad times when things like this happen.

This is the exact content of the text that I received from Tillington Manor on 16/10 at 9.29am...Tillington Manor Primary school. It has been reported that a man in a dark audi, described as able headed approached two girls and asked them to get in the car. This happened near Clare Rd off First Avenue. The police have been informed.

Police are visiting my Step Daughter and her friend at their school today as they believe they were followed in a suspicious manner by a man on their way to Weston Road Academy. I don't know any other details yet, but i'm told he followed them via an irregular root which is why it freaked them out. They reported it straight to school office who informed the police. It may well be just a case of paranoia as they are aware of the audi incident above, but then at least I suppose they're being more aware of how unsafe the streets can be.

Now if only they could see why their bus money is for the BUS and not cans of fizzy pop!!

Also parents need to make sure they update the school with their mobile number especially when they change it every year!!!

A good point U57. I can't believe how often people change their numbers these days. I've had the same one for 7 years. I've got customers who seem to change them every 3 months!

A good point but schools need to be less lax with who they let the children go home with. Last week I picked my daughter up from her after-school choir practice, halfway home and i received a call from another parent saying they were stuck in traffic and could I get their daughter. I didnt think this would be allowed but went straight back anyway. The choir teacher, who I had not met before, didnt ask any questions and just allowed me to take this child with me! I was astounded and annoyed, after all I could of been anyone, this was also at Tillington Manor PRIMARY school and these children are only 7!

I am gutted to be reading about this here. My little boy goes to this school and I've heard nothing from them. Granted my phone is FUBAR at the moment but not even a letter has been sent out! Had to hear this from my neighbour who's kids go to a different school across the other side of town.

I asked my little boy if his teacher has spoken to him about strangers today and he said no... :(

Just glad we've had the chat with him before and he knows what he should and more importantly shouldn't do.

I think the important thing to do is not to overreact or panic and await the outcome of the Police inquiries(sp?)

A lot of schools only know a parent has changed a number when they ring to tell them little jack or jill are ill and could they come to collect them.

The primary we used when i was in Stafford wouldn't use the text service as as they said the parents in the area often used their phone as a fashion accessory and changed it and their number almost weekly. Rendering it an expensive waste.

This was posted yesterday on Staffordshire Polices Facebook site :-

In response to your questions about a Facebook story circulating regarding a suspicious incident in Stafford.

Staffordshire Police is continuing to investigate a report concerning a suspicious vehicle in the Tillington area of Stafford on the evening of Monday 15 October.

The report refers to a man in a car who asked a girl to get in. The girl did the right thing by not talking to him and walking off. No physical contact was made and no-one was harmed.

We are investigating this incident and local police officers have been in the area.

There's nothing to suggest that you are at any risk. But if you're approached in a similar way, use your discretion and don't talk to strangers. Walk away straightaway and contact the police.

Our advice to parents is to remain calm and vigilant. Continue to take normal, sensible precautions to keep your children safe and if you do see anything suspicious report it to us immediately by ringing 101 or, in an emergency, 999.

Please help us by not spreading unconfirmed rumours on Facebook or Twitter, and please be reassured that we would post the appropriate information on Facebook immediately in the rare occasion that we needed to.

If you have any concerns, please ring Staffordshire Police on 101 and ask to speak to your local officer, and please share this status with your friends."

But nothing since...
