Who are all these rent-a-gobs appearing on the TV news with their 'expert' opinion on the situation in Stafford?

Never heard of 80% of them. Seems as if anybody and their performing monkey who wants a bit of publicity can jump on the bandwagon at the moment irrespective of any actual qualification to talk about the issue. Many of them, if you look into them enough seem to have a political/economic agenda that they are trying to promote behind a façade of caring about the hospital at its patients.

You shouldn't really be surprised, that's how TV news generally works.

I know...

I reckon pretty much all of them have never even been in the hospital lately,

Heck has Julie or anyone from the campaign ?

What happened in the past is nothing but terrible- but the past is the past- Regular checks should be done on the hospital - however shutting it down would be the worst thing that could happen.

I personally feel so sorry for the hard working staff that are doing a great job currently.

My comments about rent-a-gobs was not aimed at Julie or her campaign.

Julie has been doing a job that all these managers and suit types should have been doing for the past few years, it took one woman with a lot of determination and bravery to begin this and become the spokesperson, this complaint snow balled into something that no one could have foreseen, I'm sure she would prefer to be doing the job she loves and gets paid for. This is a national problem and Stafford is making improvements, but don't expect to read about that in the press anytime soon. Julie Bailey is not responsible for the damning report or A&E closing. If you see her 'just sitting staring out the window' in her cafe, don't bombard her with questions, buy a cuppa and a cake, sit down and be thankful.

Former Stafford Hospital Chief Executive Anthony Sumara said:
"What you need are the Julie Baileys of the world.
"It doesn't matter how close you get to people like that from an authority point of view, she will hold you to account.
"She will scream and shout at you if you do things wrong.
"Most (health service) managers are scared of listening to people like that."

all this negativity is damn right over the top press having a field day

The hospital that is now, not a few years ago is alright ..

2nd lowest mortality rate in the Midlands.. must be a shocking hospital then, bloody hell.

Why is noone standing up for the hospital ?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/492112690455/ ahh this seems a better place.

A field day.. What is a field day exactly?

Mortality rates - nice, great, super - I did'nt get where I am today by comparing mortality rates, 2nd you say? Death becomes you

Over the top? - WWI? Marvelous - bayonets fixed? - Super

Peter Noone? - Hermans' Hermits? No milk today as they say in Grantham - Great, Well done

Facebook? Oh yes - if you are not a customer - you must be a commodity, Very well done - lots of words, all in one day - Have an egg

Night Night

Since I don't 'do' Facebook, perhaps you could enlighten me as to what you have linked to?

"We support the front line staff at Stafford Hospital" - 1,839 members.

"We know that many people have suffered because of the appaulling failures by managament at Stafford Hospital, and our hearts go out to those who have lost loved ones as a result. But now it is time to look forward and say we support the front line staff at Stafford Hospital, people who are caring and work so hard. Lets look forward to the possibilities for the future for the Hospital and show the doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff how much we appreciate them, their hard work, and their sheer grit for continuing to care for people in Stafford despite the constant negative publicity. God bless you all!"

We support the front line staff at Stafford Hospital group..
. loads of peoples stories that have actually BEEN in the hospital lately, you know some posts

Various people on Facebook said:
This witch hunt makes me so mad, my mum was treated by Stafford Hospital cancer services for three years, she had a poor prognosis from the start, that hospital gave her life for a lot longer than we expected.

I was recently admitted with a collapsed lung and Pneumonia , i'm a Paramedic with West Mids Ambulance Service , i can honestly say i received the best treatment possible both in A&E and AMU , it was faultless , the problem was too many chiefs and not enough indians , the nurses are fantastic , i'm maried to one and this has hurt her , Julie Bailey , i hope you suffer a life threatening illness at night where you have to travel furthur than you should do because your local hospital is closed (your fault) , serves you right ,go back to yer bacon butties girl and leave the staff alone , they are the heart of OUR hospital and do a brilliant job (bit extreme this 1)

My wife is in tears here after reading all this shit , i hope you're satisfied Julie ,

And how much has this inquiry cost ?? It doesn't reaveal anything the other enquiry didn't , wouldn't the money have been better spent on the hospital ?

Very sad about all the bad press when everyone is working so hard - keep up the good work you all do & there's only a few rubbing there hands in glee - all the way to the bank no doubt!
If JB was so concerned about patient care and safety why did she and her organisation until relatively recently appear to be sitting on information which could have assisted the Trust Board in identifying problem areas and individuals?
Sorry Matthew, if you think this bacon fryer has a right to speak for all, you are very much mistaken. Her rantings are so loud the voice of reason is lost.

Seeing the coverage tonight, I've swung between really sad and really angry. Sad that such a terrible thing happened, and angry that the coverage has been so sensationalist.

The 10oclock news had some poor excuse for a reporter stood outside the hospital freezing her bottom off in the darkness (what does that achieve) being terribly patronising towards a woman from 'support Stafford hospital', supported by black and white images of the hospital car park.

to paraphrase: 'so Stafford hospital has improved, has the second lowest mortality rate in the country, and has a recommendation rate of over 85% for both patients and staff... but you do realise that this report will knock people's confidence don't you?'

Looks to me very much like muckraking events 5 years old is what's knocking people's confidence, not the report.

I'm not saying the hospital or NHS is perfect, not by a long shot, but Stafford Hospital has improved massively. Not one report today has bothered to mention that.

To remind people that Stafford Hospital has improved isn't to ignore the terrible things that happened there or try to absolve responsibility, or to suggest that further changes aren't necessary. It's just a fact that needs stating because Stafford is at serious risk of losing its hospital entirely and for good by politicians using these tragedies to hide financial incentive.

Let's not beat around the bush - terrible things have happened there - and a million times good. Stafford has been used as a scapegoat - this thing has been / is still going on across the country I have no doubt about that!
