arent wii's gimmics?

theres no scope for playing on one for a considerable amount of time, and the graphics are poor

do you mean long term, or per game?

if you mean per game, then there definitely is.. every single time me and ms. dirtybobby "put it on for 10 minutes" we find ourselves still playing it hours later.. seriously, time just suddenly seems to disappear when you're playing the wii and all of a sudden you've lost your afternoon!

if you mean long term - well, no-one knows that yet.. as mentioned above, official stats say that the wii is outselling the PS3 five-fold, so either way it has a huge userbase which will be very attractive to developers for years to come..

in your opinion.. the graphics capabilities of the machine are inferior to current "next-gen" consoles - that's undeniable fact - but how developers use those capabilities is what's important..

would you rather have a boring game running at 1080p, or a crazy fun game at 480p? only a fool would choose the former..

i'm not saying all games on all other consoles are boring - clearly, there are some amazing titles on every platform - i'm just saying that using the wii's poorer graphics as an argument for it not being a good games machine is daft in my opinion..

Neil - another forumite on here got one ages ago and we've been playing tennis on it most weekend lately! It's fab!!! bene videoing it all as well so will let you know when I ge tthem up and you can all have a giggle at us....damn hard work when you get going ...especially if you are carrying a few extra...errr...pounds around with you like me! :D

The Wii will seriously give you an aerobic workout.
Don't do too much.
I honestly believe that Nintendo are the inventors of Ibuprofen and that is where they are making their profits!

I did hear of some tech guy in america who had a few extra pounds undertaking an experiment with the Wii. He didn't change his lifestyle in any way other than spending 50mins on his Wii a day. He lost something like 7 pounds in a month.

We got a Wii at Christmas, courtesy of Ebay. Best thing ever when the ages range from 5 to 41 in a family. We play it all the time. The Big Brain Academy game is brilliant and only just over £17 in Tesco. Wii sports and Wii Play are also great. The graphics do not compare to other consoles but the fact that the whole family can play is brilliant.

thanks for the heads-up! me & the missus love this on her DS, so i might check out the wii version as well..

i can't wait for MySims - like The Sims 2 but Japantastic :keke:

I got a wii instead of going on holiday, excellent for exercise, especially the way i Box on wii sports. I cannot connect get online using my cable, any ideas?

nintendo never cease to amaze me.. i can't believe they are offering to send these out free to everyone who has bought a wii already.. fair enough, you could argue that they are covering their backsides re: litigation, but i doubt sony/microsoft/et al would make the same decision..

My flatmate has finally put his in the front room. Was playing bowling last night, its even harder than doing it for real! Although I did beat everyone at that weird mode where you end up with 91 pins :D

Would love a Wii, but haven't had a console since the original PS (which I got about 5 years after they cam out and were cheaper).

They look really fun but I would want to try one out first before commiting money to one. Does anywhere hire them out?

My flatmate has it, seen him and my bro playing it a few times. Got a mate who can play the Dragon force song on hardest, if you've played the game you'll know how hard that is!

So a year on, are people still loving their Wii's??

I had one for Christmas and loved it at first... I still love it now, but rarely play it on my own / with the GF... however when friends visit, it always comes out after beer and wine...

For me, I think thats the best thing about it, its more of a social console than a sit on your own in your Y-fronts playing it...

Saying that, I still only have Wii Sports, Mario & Sonic and Wii Play for it.. (with Mario Kart on pre order)...

Need to get it fish and chipped soon cos games are £££'s

agree completely.. i absolutely love my wii, but very rarely actually play it.. as you say, it tends to be a group activity more than anything else..

that being said, i love to blast away a few hours on super mario galaxy when i get the chance.. or super mario world on the virtual console

I got mine in Feb but not played much as still living with the folks. when me and jimbob move into our house i'm sure there will be lots of Wii time. I only have Wii sports at the mo but love the tennis
