Well incase anyone's interested it ended up rapidly shooting up in price with just 10 seconds to go - I fetched £410 for it!!

Got to go. I'm off to B&Q for timber ;)

Already in production, I've had 2 emails from eBayers that missed out saying they would happily pay the same price it went for if I can get them one done in time for Christmas. I think I'm going to be a busy man! ;)

I have the first five years of Practical Householder from the 1950s - including how to make your own spin drier, and even your own electric blanket...

It has occurred to me that I did make my father a giant electric propagator in a similar fashion. It's a six foot by two foot expanded polystyrene box with four glass panes for the upper surface. The heat is supplied by some trace-heating cable* that I got at the boot sale -

- ten watts per meter. The live and neutral are encased in a slightly conductive polymer which heats up when the mains is applied. I fitted a thermostat in the box and he's been using it with great success for about fifteen years now. The cable is snaked around the base of the box, held in place by matchsticks stuck into the polystyrene and the whole heating element is covered in a layer of sand, to provide some thermal mass.

The whole thing is built into one end of one of his greenhouses.

It is an established technology and people do sell soil-warming cable kits - http://www.harrodhorticultural.com/soil-heating-cable-pid7984.html .

I'm attempting to make a latch hook rug depicting tribbles in wedding attire, well, top hat and veil lol, as a wedding present for some Trek bonkers friends of mine. Sadly I've run out of wool and can't afford any till next week. I'm rather frustrated as a, i'm in the mood for making it and b, it's already late.

Not exactly made, but I now have a camper van with lovely comfortable front seats from a BMW.
Took a lot of sawing and drilling of angle iron and pipe, and 1 plaster plus lots of swearing

Any suggestions with what to make from a VW Sharan? Mine is being weighed in for scrap at the end of August when the tax expires ;)

Got anywhere you can store it and break for parts? Probably worth a few bob in parts mate.

Has the old shazza had it then wmr? Marc at the garage drives one as he's been making efforts to breed a football team over the last few years. He might be interested. You know that even a rough one with a fresh mot is worth quite a bit of money, people carriers are surprisingly expensive.

Engine extremely reliable. However, needs clutch doing (it's still plodded on the last 18 months how you last knew it to be). Turbo has never worked right. Wing mirror needs replacement. Central locking has never worked. Rear door wiring looms need replacing for speakers etc to work. Heavy rain leaks in and fills drivers footwell. Should i continue? ;)

Such a shame really as it has never failed to start in the 2 years I've owned it.

Not really 'made', but I've just managed, with great difficulty, to fix somebody's mobility scooter, much against the intentions of the 'designer' - who I would cheerfully disable, if he was to make himself available to me.

For exactly the same cost, he could -

A, have made it much easier to fix.

B, have made it not go wrong in the first place.
