Simple question what's your favourite cheese, I recently went to Hartington Cheese shop and came back with a great selection of Staffordshire / Derbyshire cheese, including Dovedale Blue very nice.

Stafford Town Centre Partnership - you know the business group who organise things like Christmas in Stafford, Arts Festival, Santa Dash in conjunction with SBC are organising the inaugural Stafford Cheese Festival next May, so it would be interesting to get some cheesy posts

Martin Mottershead at Weeping Cross has it

S

Mr. Mottershead is indeed a legend, and a purveyor of Bertelin cheeses to boot - a visit the morrow is very much on the cards.

I love cheese - i very nearly came to blows in an argument about cheese once. :)

Hang on, there's going to be a cheese festival? That's brilliant! I adore cheese. It is why I could never be vegan. Have you tried Mr Moyden's? All unpasteurised and vegetarian. Made by hand, just outside Newport.

Back in the day when Newport had a really good cheese shop, you could get Llangoffan Farm cheese, made by a viola player in the Halle Orchestra.

Goats' milk cheeses are always gorgeous but it can be hard to find vegetarian versions, particularly the soft cheese.

If anyone else is crackers for cheese, try making your own - the kits from bigcheeesmakingkit.com look very tempting.

Whoa.

Can we focus a bit more on the locale?

I understand that the Bertelin 'family' of cheeses is to be no more - are there any other Staffs cheese operatives of which i am unaware?

P.S. Don't fecking push me, man, cheese is a serious business.

Now this is a proper thread at last. There's few events in life that can't be made better with a nice piece of cheese.
it has to be an extra mature cheddar, I used to buy black bomber from the greengate deli before it's demise. Now either classic gold or black bob from the cheese and wine shop at trentham.
Had I the time, I would of course insert the Monty python cheese shop sketch to my post. But I don't, so I won't.
