This was a blatent smear campaign !!! They came and took pictures of tyres that were on my scrap pile , they arrested me for reason still unknown and allowed me to open back up the same day ! Now, if I had done anything illegal why wasn't I charged an shut down ??????

They must have had enough suspicion though to raid your business.

ROFL :D

Did you offer to have his babies?

Such a level of obvious deceit makes me want to stay well clear of the place

How do you know they were 'fantasic tyres'? I mean did they look nice? Is that the criteria for new tyres that you just look at them? Can the naked eye see tyre defects?..............Wowzer if so!

As some of you know I drive a LDC minibus, the tyres cost a fortune so I get used ones from ACE tyres on Browning st, I've never had any problems with them even though I sometimes get up to 70mph on the motor way, but it should be noted that I don't do any prolonged fast or hard driving.
Used tyres can be just as good as new ones, It just depends on what and how they are used for!

True enough, but you're not using your first and probably only post to say how great a tyre company is whose owner was arrested for allegedly selling illegal or dangerous tyres :)

I have been reading a thread about City Tyres and the comments about part worn tyres. I buy and sell cars and have used city tyres for a long time with no problems. It is a shame that the other customers i know have not come on here to confirm the quality of their purchases but as with many of us life keeps us too busy. We all have problems with things we buy and we all have a choice. The incident with the police does seem dubious as the tyre industry is very cut throat, a bit like the ice cream vans and people have influence in high places. So what i would say is that using city tyres is not a problem and they supply quality products. But you have the choice to choose from a range of tyres and if what they were doing was illegal they would not be trading. We should support our small local businesses not try to bury them.

I have always found Stafford Tyres unbeatable in price - they are always quick, efficient and can fit you in last minute!

I can't say I've even heard of City Tyres??

You probably wouldn't mind saying your business name then?

Premier Tyres http://www.premiertyresltd.co.uk/ on Greyfriars are really good....they're really friendly & went out of their way to explain what had happened to husbands car tyre, they fixed the problem causing the damage as well as replacing the tyre & for a good price....not all of us can always afford new tyres :)

Yes, car dealers fit part worn tyres. So what? You would have to be pretty naïve to think that they didn't. Part Worn does not mean bald, illegal or lethal. I know definitely that Lamborghini Manchester have bought partworn tyres from a dealer in Stafford in the past and they sell cars of £80k upwards.

That-Crazy-Rat-Lady you sound a little suppisious you seem so sure on every thing when it comes to city tyres and putting them down. And doesnt seem from your post that youve ever been there and quick to avertise other tyre companies , i dont think they would be trading if they were selling ilegal tyres . i would reccomend them to any one .

Not naive, I have worked in the motor trade for 16 years at a number of main dealers over that time and not once have any of those dealers fitted part worn tyres. Frank Butcher motors maybe.

A car we MOT'd three weeks ago was failed on 2 tyres - the owner was a little shocked when he receieved our call as he'd only had them fitted a few weeks previous from a part worn outlet. They looked ok at a glance but were badly out of shape when spun up.
