Rogue Snake on the loose (maybe a lost pet?)

Oh my goodness, it's enormous! Until I looked at the pictures I was imagining something a bit like a slow worm. You are VERY brave, Crimsonfox.

If I'd found a snake trying to get through my window I'd have moved out. I barely coped with cluster flies.

We are currently sharing our home with bats, nesting rooks, house martins and a colony of what I think are tree bees. All making themselves comfortable in the roof. The cluster flies have moved out but I'm told they may be back in October. The cellar is full of frogs. If a snake moves in, I've had it.

whilst I am on one what do you think of the beauty course at stafford college for young girls? apparently places are being snapped up and the course is nearly closed. They need life skills to help them get through to adulthood. Are we British or American here? Beauty pageants next! I hope not

If a course is nearly full, then that probably suggests that it is popular. I can put your mind at rest, though, we do not prepare young girls (or boys...all our courses are open to everyone, regardless of age or gender) for beauty pageants. People studying beauty therapy are acquiring job-ready skills, combined with experience dealing with the public in our working salons. At the end of their course they go on to work in salons and spas here and abroad. In recent weeks I have interviewed a beauty therapy student who had just landed her dream job on a cruise liner and another who was talking about the thrill of opening her own business. The lecturers themselves, all holding degrees and teaching qualifications, previously worked as beauty therapists.

Beauty therapy qualifications have excellent employment opportunities, leading to particularly flexible career opportunities to fit around the ambition and life choices of the individual - ex-students tell us that they were able to set up as mobile therapists for example, or work part time to fit round childcare responsibilities, then move easily back into full time work or self employment. At College, they gained the vocational skills AND life skills like customer care, teamwork and entrepreneurship.

Snakes have not, hitherto, been found in our training salons. Although it looked for a while as though Crazy Rat Lady might bring along some rodents.

wanna see my snake?
I met some of the current students at the fun day, one painted my OHs daughters nails. She was a very polite, intelligent young lady who certainly seemed to know what she was doing and was not some air headed bimbo that people often expect of that sort of course. They don't just put make up on each other all day, they do a lot of business orientated classes and are probably much better prepared for working life than someone doing A-Levels.
