Cycle Paths

I'd say that numerous hazards both on and off roads are part and parcel of riding a cycle or even motor cycle, be it pot holes, mud, gravel, diesel, wet leaves all need to be looked out for, these are all hazards that most 4 or more wheel vehicle users don't have to consider as much as a two wheel road users.
One hazard I have recently experianced when riding along Route 55 are rabbits and squirrels who wait until you are about to pass them before deciding to run across your path:lol:

By a rather unfortunate turn of events - my Attorney making unusual demands - i find myself in need of *shudders* 'training'.

What's the Bobby? Kind of up for it in my reluctant way - what are we talking Stafford -> Fox -> Stafford miles wise? Between now and the end of August i need to be able to do 50 miles twice in as many days.

In the interests of the same, who's up for July 12th? Saturday's probably a better day - recuperate on the Sunday, what?

Sat 12th July, start at Sainsburys?

Is there any way I could persuade you towards Sunday 13th? Saturday 12th is the day of Newport Show. Not only is this my favourite day of the year but all the pubs in the area will be totally rammed.

If you can lean towards 13th I'm definitely up for that. I promise you won't need a recovery day. There are hardly any hills.

Also, you will be totally fine to do the trip in August given your cycling background - have a look at the Sky Rides taking place locally to get you back in the saddle.

Fab!

If you are on a road bike, the best way might be through Doxey, then on that lane all the way to the T-junction. Turn left there for Haughton, then go Church Eaton-Moreton-Stockton. From there, you just need to go straight across the A41 to Pave Lane and Foxville.

Go back the same way or if you fancy a diversion, Newport-Forton-Offley-Woodseaves-Ranton and back on the Doxey lane.

You can go on the railway line but the surface isn't till isn't for road tyres and as has been reported recently, it is currently very muddy past Outwoods pending the completion of restoration work. That way is all quiet country lanes and a burst of excitement across the A41.

Next Weds evening there is a 40km ride from Mammoth Cycle Shop at Milford. Starts at 6.30pm. £3 entry. Barbecue at the finish. I am assured that all standards welcomed.

The Stafford to Newport Route 55 is getting a little hazardous with the encroaching nettles, brambles and low branches particularly on warm days when wearing shorts etc :(. Just booked a Waterways to Shugbrough Sky Ride hope a few more do also?
