I'd like to see him do that on a proper road with a kerb and manholes and potholes and cats eyes and all the associated crap that is on the highways now.

Sounds like the range rover had the right idea.

It works like this :

He gets a ticket from a private parking company. This can be then used when he runs out of Kleenex. As has been previously discussed on this forum, these private tickets can be ignored.

Alternatively he can squeeze his car into a space and wait for some idiot to open their door with absolutely no care whatsoever. This will result in £400 - £500 worth of damage.

I am currently looking at a nice front wheelarch dent on my vehicle caused by some inconsiderate git who does not know how to get their lardy backside out of their car without damaging mine.

So its back to parking in the far realms of the car park - as repairs (even smart repairs) are way too expensive to bear.
Just to let you know, you can no longer ignore those private fines. The vast majority of cases now go to court. I had one and did plenty of research about ignoring it as used to be the case. They can now legally nail the owner of the car thanks to help from the DVLA wankers. PEPIPOO is the best website out there for the info on it. You CANNOT ignore it now. Only way of getting away with it is by appealing and various other processes.

Always thought they were just notices of intent to take you to court, unless they actually go through the civil court process you can ignore all correspondence/threats to your hearts content.

As I understand it, the situation has changed in the last couple of years and now with some of these Parking Companies, if you want to fight their charges, then it is best to follow a process that does involve some correspondence (correctly worded), rather than just ignore them. In all cases I would recommend taking advice off the experts at PePiPoo, as the best approach does vary from private parking company to private parking company.

The bottom line is if you follow the correct approach, then you are almost guaranteed that you will not end up paying anything.

N.B. It is an entirely different matter when dealing with Council Parking Tickets, which should always be responded to. Even then PePiPoo may be able to assist in getting the ticket cancelled.

Had to walk into a busy road with my two dogs to be able to get past this plank. When I complained to the driver who was sitting in the cab, he just shrugged his shoulders.

Across the end of my drive, when my car was parked in it, three feet away? I might, just, have been able to get out with a LOT of manoeuvring. But what an utter, utter, empty-headed, numpty.

It is much easier to reverse into a tight parking space, if approaching at right angle, as is often necessary in a car-park.
Yep. In fact I don't understand why people don't reverse into parking spaces / onto their drive as a matter of course since when you drive out visibility us much better. Also by reversing in it is dead easy to get the car central in the space.

The main reason might be that the driver behind will usually be utterly mystified by this bizarre manoeuvre and will pull up right behind you, wondering why your reversing lights are on - but, it's great fun to just start reversing at them, pretending that you've not noticed that they're there....

We get more than enough horn beeping, light flashing, obscene gestures and near accidents just driving onto the drive, dread to think what would happen if I tried reversing on. Fortunately we have ample space to turn cars around on the drive, next door don't and end up reversing into the road which can be awful to watch never mind experience.

We have poor visibility if trying to drive out of our drive forwards and reversing out is a complete no no, I reverse towards the road then go hard left hand down so as I end up still on the drive but sitting parallel to the road and can then use my wing mirrors to see what's coming up the hill.

This!! One of the funniest thing I ever saw occurred right infront of my house. Our road has parking both sides so is then only wide enough for 1 car to be going in either direction. My neighbour spotted a space outside his house as he drove down the road, and indicated to tell the following car he wanted to pull in. As it happened he wanted to slightly overshoot the space and then reverse in. However the numpty behind was so close up his backside that she ended up parallel to the space my neoghbour wished to reverse in to therefore preventing him from reversing. He politely got out of his car and asked the lady behind if she would just mind reversing a few feet to enable him to reverse in to the space outside his house. Unbelievably she refused!! So my neighbour asked this moron woman again to reverse just a few feet. She again refused. She then started hammering her horn for extended periods of time to try to get my neighbour to move. As I said, our road is only 1 car wide, so by refusing to reverse just a few yars she had, in effect blocked herself in :). My neighbour realised this, parked in the middle of the road and went in to his house. Woman who had refused to move was thus left blocked in, with her only exit route being to reverse all the way back to the main road, approx 100 metres away :D. No idea why she wouldn't reverse the few feet int he first place, but it was brilliant watching her get more and more irate and abusive as my neighbour calmly locked his car and went in his house for a nice cuppa :)

The Highway Code says:
When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can.
However, some people cannot win http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...ined-for-reversing-into-his-own-driveway.html

I watched as the woman driving this car decided to stop, get herself out and then a young child from the back seat and then proceed to walk into Lloyds Bank. There were plenty of parking spaces available as well. Obviously normal rules don't apply to her.
