What are these buildings (off the Sandon/Marston road)?

Hi! I've been wondering for a few weeks what the buildings are behind Truview (?), just off the Marston Road (and Sandon Road). I guessed perhaps they were old defunct warehouses, but I don't see any way for someone to get into the buildings, at the side they appear to have been bricked in.

My interest has been piqued further because today there's a bunch of contractors on the roof who appear to be taking the buildings apart!

To find them on Google Maps they're just below the star.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them! Thanks.

Are they not accessible through ex-Truview?

I suspect they're coming down to make extra car-park space as the old factory facing Sandon Road has been converted into apartments.

I thought that building was a church, not a factory.

Its all part of the now ex-Truview premises, there was planning permission to build houses etc on that land.
The church/factory/new apartments used to be a Shoe Factory back in the day..

Thanks for the information everyone!

I hadn't considered, although they're currently painting / fitting carpets / flooring in those new apartments so I don't think they'd have left it this late to demolish a building to build a car park however there is only room for ~6 cars at most on the land they tarmaced last week. Maybe it is related! I guess I'll find out eventually.

I thought that building was a church, not a factory.

For a period it was used by the Mount Peniel church - Pentecostalists, I think - they had various activities there, including an advice centre and, for a time, a two-days-a-week Caribbean take-away, which I never managed to try.

For a period of time I needed to regularly access the rear of a building on Marston Road, via the lane off Wogan Street, opposite Shepherd's Bush Street. It's a dodgy access, and the extra traffic will cause a bit of entertainment, until the rat-runners that use Wogan Street realise that vehicles will emerge there rather more often than they have been doing...

They've now taken a lot of the corrugated iron off and windows have been revealed! I wonder how long it has been since they saw the light of day.

I will look forward to that! I live in the old box factory (Stafford Box) with windows overlooking that lane, when they were tarmacing the rear of the new factory conversion all hell broke loose with big lorries blocking the lane, but alas there were no exciting crashes.

An update for anyone even vaguely interested:

They continued taking apart the roof of the building on Thursday and left around 4pm, they exposed 2 layers of windows. They did not return on Friday. I just went out for a walk and noticed that on the edge of the car park there is a notice that states there is an application with the council to demolish the building, the date is listed as August 1st.

Looking through the council website I've found the planning application (it was approved), it's for 14 apartments, 6 of which are going to be 1 bedroom and 8 will be 2 bedroom. There will be 3 buildings. Although I don't look forward to the construction noise, I do look forward to watching the buildings take shape over the coming months!

Here is the proposed layout:

I'm super confused about how they expect that car park to work, it looks like they plan for Wogan Street to be the entrance... maybe I will get to see lots of crashes! For whatever reason they're placing the main building over where the existing car park is, quite strange! Maybe they plan to share the car park with the other building that was just built.

Here's more of the layout and floorplans: http://www6.staffordbc.gov.uk/Planning/StreamDocPage/obj.pdf?DocNo=1584871&PageNo=1&content=obj.pdf

It says the site entrance is from Marston Road in that illustration.

The car parking area will be accessed off Marston Road. There will be an archway through the two buildings.

I like the scheme, however I would have preferred it if the building line was followed along the Sandon Road.
