Fencing & someone to fit it please!!!

Hi,

We currently have conifers that need to go and be replaced with fencing....we contacted EFC and they only supply, anyone got suggestions for a good/not expensive fitter of fencing please??

You didn't say what kind of conifer and why you want rid of it. Sure some can be very fast growing and very thick. The main culprit being Leyland Cypress.

Why not use Taxus Baccata (Yew) ? You can buy it bare rooted for a couple of quid a plant, or make some cuttings. Plant 2-3 per metre of hedge.

Its a native hardy evergreen which once topped grows at a slow rate. If you have Leyland Cypress then I can understand wanting to get rid of them, but Yew is a much better evergreen, and unlike other hedges can tolerate neglect and then be pollarded to get it back into a good shape and dense throughout. If you cut a Leyland Cypress or similar back too much then it will not regrow you will have a bald part of the hedge.
