Right then...

Next week's ride will have to be Thursday (16/10), will have to be pm (start some time between 12 and 1) and will have to be a shortish one - 1, 1 1/2, 2 hrs tops.

Preliminary thoughts are Milford -> climb to Brocton Coppice -> cheeky one to Stepping Stones -> climb to the Shooting Butts -> cheeky one (or possibly Cherrytree Slade) to Stepping Stones -> Milford. Or something else, whatever. :)

Fancy coming along?

Just got back from the chase, did Follow the Dog and the Monkey Trail. I found it far easier today than ever before, I even rode up Cardiac hill(!) which seemed an impossibility last week -- I did need a break at the top though. I think it's because I ate a lot before riding, made good use of my gears and took the train into Rugeley to start, instead of riding from Stafford, so for the future I know to eat and drink lots before leaving and not use up my energy on the way there.

The Monkey trail is so much fun, definitely prefer it to Follow the Dog, the climbs are worth it. We made use of the route @Withnail taught me for the return home, very relaxing and enjoyable ride :D (Thank you!)

(I didn't post here to invite anyone interested because the person I was riding with wasn't interested in riding with other people, nothing personal forumites.)

Short but sweet one today.

Two rather gruelling climbs, two swoopy but technical descents. And some other stuff in between, including a rather plush carpet of needles. Much better day for it today, though it was pretty wet under wheel - citricsquid noticeably better on the climbs i thought, looking good for the 25 miler on Saturday i reckons.

No injuries to report but a mechanical at the bottom of Cherrytree Slade (stupid feckin' brakes) made for an unwelcome delay - though i think citricsquid may have taken some photos, so at least he may have enjoyed it a bit more.

Unfortunately this will probably mean i'm not able to ride out next week, what with brakes being quite important and everyfink. Hopefully i'll get it sorted for the week after next, will let you know when i'm out again.

Thanks to @citricsquid for another most enjoyable blast. :)

I look forward to your return, I don't think I have the navigational skills to lead a jaunt through the chase! My photos didn't turn out too well, nothing was grabbing me as being a great opportunity but I figured I'd give it a go anyway! I think the best is this one, nice colours but nothing exciting:

Thank you for another enjoyable ride!

What terrible news - link doesn't work for me (non-booked face) - what is known of the circumstances?

Terribly sad. As James said, it's understandable (and touching) that people want to know more and want do something, as it's so horrible and tragic, but someone who was involved in the incident has asked people to hold off for a while to allow the family to try and process what's happened. I'm sure more information and something to show support will be sorted in time, but for now, just think of the family.

The cold and wet weather has really put a damper on my mountain biking recently :-( How's your bike looking Withnail?
