Many thanks for all helpful replies. Taking on board useful advice will look into SSD upgrade . Am sure Wayne can help me with that one. I shall also get two inexpensive portable drives and routinely do back ups.

Cloud storage is a great way to store but reliant on being connected and is cost prohibitive for the amount I am looking at....

Anything to make my PC silent and quick!!!
