My mate told me they sacked 7 out of 8 staff they hired the previous week. Apparantly they have to call businesses scanned from a directory. Some closed down years ago and some have even passed away. I asked him to find out what the boss's surname was. He asked around and said no-one knew. Look at racism and general bullying in the workplace too from what he was hearing. How the hell does that go on in this day and age ?

I think my mate is not expected his position to last too long either.

Hmm, OK as he feared my mate called me and he has become the latest employee to lose his job here. He says it was done by a bloke called Eddie who by all accounts seems to do everything in there. Last week our 'friend' John held a staff party at which he overheard something nearing the £200 mark was spent on booze. It can't be just me and him who think this is a teeny bit unprofessional ?

My mate who isn't a big drinker sat back as staff who were playing drinking games from about 2 in the afternoon until past 10 pm according to one of the original employees he overhead say. The majority of the male staff in drag after costumes that had been bought. My mate wasn't going to get into that  and he just watched. going home at the usual home time hour.

OK can you believe that some staff who got broadband orders done lost them because the sheets were spoiled getting covered in booze and they were thrown away. This Eddie seemed a bit matter of fact according to my mate. I would be hopping mad and needless to say my mate said some were going to have a 'conversation' with him. Also when the staff do get near to making a sale, they are kept waiting for ages on the phone. My mate almost got a couple but they had hung up and changed their minds by the time the clinchers got around to talking to them.

Now my mate would admit the job wasn't really for him, so he personally isn't crying too much over it. He just wants his basic wage from the time he was there. I'll let you know if there's any issues over that. He thanks you for the heads up on this Atlas bunch. We both look forward to seeing further updates for you all !

This company also has trouble paying their staff's wages!! (A family member has been bitten twice by their enticing employment offers - never materialised) So many come and go from this business... the staff turnover is ridiculous! They're recruiting Again, now!
I have seen a video of the office - very basic, no computers, no phone systems, just staff walking around making deals on mobile phones! Considering what they are promoting....! It's all a Sham! There's only a handful who are really benefiting financially!! They're aiming to expand into the Energy supplier market now..... Watch out!
Any chance of getting hold of the video? a TV crime investigation programme is requesting all info on these crooks. Any trading name for their new energy supplier con yet ?

Threads merged.

@Act Now, we really appreciate all of the time, effort and help that you are providing, but please do not keep posting the same thing over and over again, as it may drown out the posts of others which may get missed. People who have been scammed by this company will no doubt read through all of this thread with interest, so you only needs to post information once.

Also (and this applies to everyone), please refrain from implying or alluding to personal threats, visits to personal residences, etc. Not only is this a bit silly from the perspective of getting oneself in legal bother, but it may be used against you/Stafford Forum in order to get this thread removed. As long as you keep everything to publicly available, non-threatening information, then no-one can have any cause to force me to remove it.

Thanks. :)

My mate whose story I have been documenting on his behalf has yet to receive the £200 initial wage payment from these con merchants. He went over yesterday to be fobbed off and clearly this Eddie bloke who was meant to sort out that side hasn't done so. My mate who was accompanied by another friend was totally fobbed off by this John the boss man. He says he will ring their HQ tomorrow but isn't hopeful,

Further news when he updates me.

Hi there guys.

I used to work for Atlas up until a few weeks ago after being there for a few months. It was only after finding this site that I started to question things. So for all that arent aware I will reveal step by step how they "sucker" you in so that those new to this forum can see.

They ring you up out of the blue under the guise of offering a government funded grant for the broadband services for small to medium businesses and proceed to make sure you "qualify".

Qualification is a bunch of irrelevant questions about your business such as no. of employees how long youve been trading etc. all designed to throw you off course so they can get the real info they want; your provider and how many lines you've got. As long as your spend is high enough usually over £45 for lines call and BB they agent will then tell you that you need to speak to the grants team to ensure there is still availability in your are but you could be saving upto £1500 if there is.

This is where the clinchers dig there claws in. They run an imaginary check on your postcode to make sure you're "in the catchment area" or there is "grant availability left" in your area. Then they go through and proceed to tell you some made up story as to why the grant is available and that its to help your business "grow and develop" and that its funded through the Department for Sports Media and Culture and advise you to look at:

https://www.gov.uk/broadband-delivery-uk and https://www.connectionvouchers.co.uk/

To try and legitimise their claims. At this point they've waffled on to great extent so you have forgotten the previous stuff so youre left thinking that you're getting whats on either of those pages. At this point you're usually fairly interested so now they mention a price that is almost half your existing bill with your current provider, as little as £24.99 + VAT for 1 line and Broadband to try and seal the deal. But wait you're in a contract and cant leave your current provider. At this point they start flaunting Ofcom General Condition 9.6 about which is probably the only truthful thing they say in the whole call but in order for that to work they convince you that your provider changes their prices regularly which they probably dont. Info on Ofcom General Condition 9.6 can be found here:

http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/services-and-billing/conchange

The whole process is very well thought out and I'd be surprised if half of the staff even know that theyre conning you. I still know one or two people that work there so if i here any news as to changes ill let you know.

Just spoke to my mate who confirms this is the place he was at. He recognises some of the people there including this Eddie guy right at the beginning. He would like to know if you got paid on time or even at all WeAreLegion ?

Generally I got paid on time as much as can be expected anyway whether my pay was correct or not is another matter altogether...which leads to my reason for leaving over several weeks my wage was anything from £25-£100 short in fact over the space of 6 or 7 weeks it worked out I had been underpaid by just over £300 which has never materialised oh and I never got my week in hand when I left either and neither have the other people I know that have left or been sacked.

Yeah, my mate is trying to get that week in hand money himself, so he isn't going to be happy. He plans to tell the Job Centre who actually told him about it in the first place.

I'd tell him to do it I don't know if he'll get much from it tho and in my honest opinion he won't see a penny from john

Yep, I think he is sort of suspecting that. I feel so annoyed for him and hated telling him initially when he started from experience that kind of cold calling is a total waste of time.

Thank you for taking the time to register and provide some insight, @WeAreLegion. :)

This is fast turning into one of the most interesting non-Stafford threads The Forum has ever seen. It's just a shame that it has to involve the scamming of so many people. It's good to see everyone coming together to try and put an end to it, however!
