30 April according to Juice Comedy Facebook. Such a pity! Always seemed busy at weekends and lunchtimes. £35k/annum rent...

£35k/annum rent that's the problem. Its not that businesses are not profitable its the fact that rents in Stafford are too high.

Yes, the old JJB shop does seem something of a snip

Rent = £145,000
Rates = £77,401
Service Charge = £57,253

Grand Total = £279,654 per year

or to put it another way £5377.96 per week. I really can't see why it has not been snapped up, as the Guildhall Centre is such a lively place.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but what is the benefit to the landlord of charging such a high rent that the property ends up unrented so generates no income at all. Surely it's better to get some rent at a lower rate than none at all??

Yeah, but what if someone else appears next week with a business plan, a bucket load of cash and a frontal lobotomy? Very few are owned by people in the shire, I suspect many think we're in Shakespeare land.

Rumour I heard the business was sold so it could open up a similar again. Considering no to let sign went up, just straight to the let by sign it could make sense.

But the premises is confirmed as let for sure.

There's a post on Terraces Menswear in Facebook saying it will be their new shop. If so, I would think it will be a success as 80's 90's football fashion has had a resurgence.

I suppose there must be a market for it - Often wondered how Rigout Clothing and the one opposite the library keep going...
