Decent Pubs with good food that are dog friendly

We had a really good meal at the Red Lion at Sutton last night. Seriously good food, freshly prepared and a lovely atmosphere.

Dogs are welcome and the landlady keeps a pocket full of gravy bones. You could tell the regular visitors - a Labrador walked up to her and sat, ostentatiously, waiting to be rewarded.

I'd very much recommend a visit - you could do a walk at Aqualate or along the canal at Loynton first.

*If you are vegetarian, mention this. There is a separate menu. Otherwise, you would struggle a bit with all the pheasant and duck.

Most shops in Trentham allow dogs. That's probably why its busy.

This is from the French version of trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.fr/LocationP...que-Hebden_Bridge_West_Yorkshire_England.html

Yes well, Hebden Bridge has an interesting demographic.

So does the Lakes, Peak District and Chorlton Cum Hardy. Pubs tend to welcome dogs. Stafford is a bit touch and go. Generally pubs that make an effort with dogs tend to sell good beer and server good food.

I'm told the Horse & Jockey in Lichfield, the current Staffordshire Pub of the Year, apparently, is good for dogs.

Obviously, the Greyhound at Burston is, too.
