I've got a Hetty - and I only got it because it was pink and had a smiley face. As I live in a male dominated house I wanted a girlie Hoover. But to be fair it has beat my previous Dyson hands down.

.... Dyson - one of the most overrated bits of plastic in the land! Workwise, Wickes wet n dry vac, takes some serious abuse and always behaves if you're ahead of the game keeping the filter clean, which is a piece o pee ....

I have one of the old Aquavacs, which, apart from making a noise like a BAC 111, has been totally reliable despite great abuse.

At work we use either Nilfisk, Premier or Numatics. Except our Numatics don't have faces on cos it'd scare the patients.
And, yrs ago, don't know if it happens now. The male patients used to jump at the chance to hoover their bedrooms. A lot of motors got burnt out that way....................

Bought a Vax about 6 years ago, it's put up with a lot. Until we moved just over 4 months ago our place in Eccy was of a 'substantial' size and despite Mrs T vacuuming top to bottom at least twice a week, spare rooms getting another going over if we had friends over for a weekend, the kitchen, utility and hall done daily (the hall sometimes twice due to cat hair etc) and my using the extension tool to get the fine stuff from the back of the log burner once a week in the winter months. It's still going strong with only 1 replacement filter in all that time.

I have do disagree, ours is great and far superior to the Hoover it replaced. It even pulls greyhound hairs out of the boot carpet, something which my valeter friend's german 'professional' wet and dry vac in unable to do.

I have had all kinds over the years but 3 months ago when I needed to replace I actually took time to study them.

I was looking for something that worked well on carpet and hard floor.

In the Argos book there is a rating by each one for energy effeiceincy, carpet rating, hard floor rating.
...A being the best.

I Noticed that some of the Dysons were for examle rated A for energy and A for hard floor but only D for carpet.
The Henry hoover are rated A for energy but only C for carpet and C for hard floor.

I eventually chose a Hoover which was half price. A for energy A for Carpet A for Hard floor.

I brought a hetty ! Its sucks well but .... I think it sucks a bit too well lol. Its pulled my carpet up and the hose is really annoying , the extension poles keep coming apart . On a plus side I no longer have to worry about blockages and it seems to do a better job of Getting off some of the tougher marks off my carpet =D

One of my wife's friends recently bought one and said "she sucks like she's being paid for it".... it's over my head!! ;)

Don't forget the airflow adjuster on the pipe. That collar that turns and opens an air hole on the pipe. The more that's open the less suction you get. We have to use that on our rug otherwise the suction makes it too difficult to hoover.
