Blist's Hill Victorian Town.

Four of us went to Blist's Hill yesterday. It was quite interesting, though I thought it was on the expensive side.

Some of it is a bit Disney-Land for me, but there's probably a market for that. Some of the odd stuff just lying around was of much more interest to me.

One of the party required a wheelchair, and the one supplied was not really suitable for the steep slopes around the place - I'll be surprised if they haven't had the odd runaway incident.

About 10% of the attendees seemed to be middle-class kids called Tarquin, running around screaming, whilst being patronised by well-meaning parents.

We tend to get passports when we go, gives you a year's unlimited entry to all the Ironbridge museums. It's not too much more than a single ticket. It's worth it just for the fish and chips ;)

It was just a one-off visit for the other three and the chaos at the entrance made getting in difficult enough anyway...

I think the steepest bit can be avoided by going along the canal towpath and down the cliff lift, I believe that the only things you miss going that way are the estate office and the doctor's surgery.

The Tarquins are always prevelant at Bank Holidays and school holidays

There was quite a significant queue for the inclined plane at the bottom station - the other three are not the most practical or organised people, hence the fact that we were there on a Bank Holiday Sunday in the first place. It's often easier to do it the wrong way rather than go through the hassle of explaining reality, I find...
