Don't know what Mrs T is planning but I've been asked to collect a large chicken, a pineapple and half a dozen sweet potatoes on my way home tonight.

I've a book at home with a section on Australian recipes, among them are curried Kangaroo tail, jugged Wallaby, stewed Bandicoot.

OH gone to Manchester for the football.

When we were in Spain the other week we went to our friends round the corner for dinner (they are our neighbours in Bednall too, what are the chances?) anyway...they cooked us a paella.

It ws lovely so I thought I can do that. Bought most of the stuff yesterday from Aldi but had to get a few bits today.

For once I thought I would follow a recipe exactly....and it cost me a small fortune.

Chicken, prawns, mussels, squid, onion, garlic, peppers, pancetta, chorizo, paella rice, ....

The recipe said pinch of saffron. A tiny jar of saffron cost me £4.79.

Anyway its cooked now, hope it tastes good after all that.

I hate it when you try to do something different & it ends up costing more than eating out or a treat tea :( Hope it was nice :)

We've had a Gammon joint, roast (homegrown) potatoes & carrots, & Dauphinoise potatoes.

About half of the gammon seems to of wedged itself between my back teeth. :(

It was really gorgeous. OH said it was amazing.

I have now realised that following a recipe exactly to the letter is perhaps the way forward.

Instead of thinking that I know better than the experts and eliminating certain ingredients and adding what I think will do. Or just looking in the cupboard and chucking it in.

Who knew?

Last night was a bit of a 'What has been in the freezer a long time or is fresh and needs using' meal. So we had kangaroo fillet and reindeer leg steaks with wedges, fried mushrooms and onion rings with a bit of coleslaw.

A friend in the village had been sea fishing and gave me a lovely big fresh Pollock fillet for tea last night.
