there used to be one of those big LED-on-a-stick things at the bottom of baswich lane that lit up to "warn" you of the speed you were doing.. i dare say they removed it for exactly the same reason that i used to enjoy it being there - i.e. idiots like me seeing how fast you could get it to clock..

The B5013 through Creswell use to have similar signs that use to appear and disappear, perhaps they were renting them?

Whilst not justifying speeding in any way, to imply that all or even most fatalities around town are caused by speeding is erroneous. Accidents do have other contributory factors you know.

I would say that speeding is the actual cause of very few accidents. Speeding makes the effects of accidents caused by other reasons far worse. That is why you shouldn't speed.

If you pay the fine it goes to Central Government. If you attend a speed awareness course roughly 25 quid goes back to fund the enforcement activities. Central Government contributes no cash to run the cameras or staff costs.
